MQ2 19 november 2025 - Moodcube; materials of Gehry on rails like dancing characters on a stage
Q2 WEEK 2 - moodcube
For the moodcube I first thought about the materialisation. I wanted both the chair and the closet represented in it, which is why I chose for the cheese cloth and black fabric to return. The grid of the closet is also used in the “wall”. I also wanted something that contradicts my previous work. So instead of only using a firm wooden look, I went for a transparent looking box made out of glass. I could imagine this being some sort of display box in which elements/information is shown. Taking this a little step further, I made it rotatable.

The Moodcube
Constructing the moodcube. The idea was it to create a practical, efficient and elegant way of presenting the collection.
Final moodcube
First sketch model of my moodcube. The moodcube is a 3D version of the moodboard i have made earlier. In this sketch, you can see various elements from my moodboard, such as the transparency and color scheme.

For my moodcube I tried to create the same atmosphere as in my moodboard but then a little bit more detailed.
I used one side to create a sunrise/sunset with rope. In the celler I also want to create a sunrise/sunset. I don't want this to be too much destracting from the artefacts in the space, so my idea is to use soft colors for this. In this moodcube i used soft pink, soft orange and purple. For the sun rays i used a warm white tone. Because of the low ceiling in the celler, it would be nice if I can create the feeling of a higher space. I think I can do that by creating sun rays from the ground to the ceiling, because vertical lines make things seem longer.
In this moodcube I can really show what I mean by creating the outerlines of an airplane with iron wire. In the celler I think I would like to use steal pipes for this. The little rope parts in this airplane are there to show that artefacts can be placed in this.
I used cotton pads to create the feeling of being in the clouds, also on one column. On that column I also created round plates with plastic and iron wire. In the celler I want to use glass and steal to create this. The glass can be reused from the vitrines. I think this is a nice extra way to display artefacts on. I also think it is nice that the steal from the outerline of the airplane in the space comes back in the columns.
I also used one side of my moodcube to show that I would also like to hang artefacts or explanations. In that way the space is used optimally.
