My headcanon is that in human form Tso Lan dresses quite a lot of layers. I definitely think the moon demon is buying up all the moon shaped lamps from online stores.

Also I couldn't resist drawing some more interactions between Drago and Tso Lan (he is the best of uncles when Drago doesn't behave badly so much)

Since I was not active as of late, I've decided to dive deep into an archive of my unfinished pictures in order to look for something in there to share with you. Luckily, I've found this one year old practice, which I've patched up a little bit this weekend))

Here is one of my unused concept arts for a Jackie Chan Adventures AU I've been working on for couple of years now. It's not decided yet whether these designs would be part of a main plot or not, but it was still fun to imagine the looks of humans during their "hunt" for demons' magical powers. Wonder if you'll be able to guess whose powers out of Demon Sorcerers did humans preserve in their mortal bodies (other then Valmont - he's inherited powers of an Oni OC).

P.S. I'm surprisingly happy with how everybody's ears turned out to be! At least they look different in comparison to each other, haha - who could expect a process of drawing auricle (outer ear) being so fun!

Hi and of course! I’m a hopeless romantic and always ready for romantic headcanons

Tso Lan isn’t openly affectionate or affectionate at all. Considering that he is a demon there is no need for a companion. He’ll excuse that you shouldn’t interfere with anyone lesser than you two. It’s his excuse for dating a human or smaller demon. Even if you don’t have the physical strength as one he’ll point out you’re smarter than the majority of his siblings.

🌙 You aren’t meeting the family or any other demons once you’re with him. Sharing the moon and the earth is alright in his eyes but letting any of his siblings approach you is an immediate no.

🌙 Tso Lan will brush off any of your hugs, he despises them. He’s a gentleman when you two are alone. He isn’t shy to speak his mind, he just finds PDA inappropriate. He’ll carry you entangled in his long hair – his excuse will probably be that you step on his robe too much that it annoys him.

🌙 He doesn’t like holding hands while walking because he’s taller. He’d rather rest one of his larger hands on your head. A way of comfort to each other and a sign you are his. You are at his side and safe.

At first I pictured Tso Lan as a possessive toxic but he’s so chill I can’t see him as that.

🌙 He doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty to kill anyone in his way of taking the moon so he won’t hesitate to kill anyone who hurts you or tries to hit on you. A reminder he doesn’t plan on sharing you.

There’s so much ideas of this insectoid Idk where to start-

Tso Lan’s love languages are barely noticeable but after a while you start to see them clearer than before.

🪷 Words of Affection - He’ll ease you down if you express any sign of worry, being depressed or irritated by someone. “You’ll do fine.” He comes off rude or annoyed but he’s trying. You expect a demon who’s cold and thrives on humans to be treated as a science experiment to know how to talk sweetly?

🌙 Tso Lan isn’t a fool either. It won’t take long for him to learn how to be more affectionate. He has seen and watched humans for so long. Anyone who brings you an ounce of self doubt will be punished but for now, he’ll hold you close. “They don’t deserve your acknowledgement. Save your tears. Their words mean nothing, their screams of agony will.” He’s learning, I swear.

🌙 He’ll give compliments when you least expect it. Not to tease you or see your face turn red but love seeing your shocked reaction, a genuine reaction from you rather than just a simple “thank you” from you.

🌙 He doesn’t want you to see him as weak so any compliments you give him he’ll act neutral to them. He’s glad he’s taller so you don’t have to see him smile or have a bit of color to his bluish gray skin.

🪷 Acts of Service - You aided him in taking over the moon and helped free his siblings, Tso Lan will repay tenfold. He’ll hand you servants but don’t expect to be alone with them. He doesn’t eat human food but will prepare tea or coffee for you. He’ll join you on earth to get whatever you want from there. Anything to appease you. Under one condition – nothing living. Not because of any acts of cruelty, it’s the moon. It won’t live there but no matter how many times he has told you to not bring any plants with you, it somehow surprises you each time the plant shrivels up or shrunks back into a bud.

🪷 Receiving Gifts - Tso Lan will get you anything. He’ll excuse this as to stop you from complaining to keep going to Earth but he just wants you to look your best when you’re with him. “The stars stand dull compared to you, my dear.”

🌙 Clothes, jewels, anything you take interest in he’ll send servants out to get them for you.

🪷 Quality Time - To any introverts, I’m sorry to say but Tso Lan will drag you out to go on a date once a week. Sure he doesn’t mind going where in his palace you choose to stay in but he gets bored easily and asks for a change of scenery. But if any moment you feel uncomfortable he’ll take you in his arms and leave. No goodbyes or any other words – why should he give any greetings or pleasantries to anything or anyone if something made you feel out of place.

🌙 He’ll listen to your rants, even if it’s about humans or any of their “misfits” aka anything humans create. He’ll laugh at your concern for them.

🌙 “Why would you worry for them when not a single one of them below knows of your existence? Even if they did, they wouldn’t care.” He’ll go on a slightly unhinged tangent of how hypricitial humans are, selfish and grotesque. Tso Lan would isolate you from them for your own safety but can’t have you complain to him and paint him as the villain.

🪷 Physical Touch - In public, around his siblings or alone, he doesn’t shy away from holding you. Whether it be you’re so small for a throne (he’s 16 feet tall, don’t stand behind him or else you’re planning to get smacked by his hair) so you’ll be sitting on his lap.

🌙 I mentioned his hand on your head or even carrying you around in his hair. Tso Lan will never lay a hand on you in public as he finds that scandalous and should be reserved when you two are alone. Yes, that also means holding your hand or kissing you. These gestures are just for you, why should anyone else need to watch?

I know this is already long but I just had to mention this.

From what I can see in his character and the possibility of Confucianism, he’d only be with you if it means marrying you or having a family with him. I know I mentioned demons don’t need companions but one of the values of Confucianism is to have a family and monogamy so he’d take that as a win to actually like *cough**cough* love *wheeze* his companion.

If you aren’t looking forward to marrying him, he will still enjoy your company. Just don’t expect to get any further than what you have now.

If you two do end up marrying then you’ll actually have a say to whatever changes you think would be best for the empire. He won’t be kissing your hand in front of others now but will hold you in his arms to kiss you. That would be the first change but now you’d both be sleeping in the same room.

A married life with Tso Lan will be very passionate behind closed doors. Just having you alone eases anything off his mind. Someone so small can make such a difference in his immortal life. Some demons might call him hopeless or pathetic for having someone similar to how Shendu had someone to create Drago but he would brush it off, knowing full well you’re much more worth than whoever the bastard kid’s mother was. Ahaha, ouch

It’s about time I mention angst.

If / during the time Tso Lan’s imprisonment by Han Xiangzi, the philosopher among the 8 Immortals, he’d tell you to flee from harm. Tso Lan knew there would be a standing chance he’d kill the human or be banished into the Nether World, leaving you defenseless and die on the moon without him at your side. He took that chance to stand against the immortal but not before he sent you back to Earth to go into hiding.

You more than outlived the 8 immortals since you were on the moon for thousands of years with Tso Lan. You were the same age you joined Tso Lan in his empire so you were a stranger to everyone. Having to live with the humans all over again. You weren’t a widower but couldn’t exactly tell anyone your husband was banished/exiled before you brought dishonor to yourself. You’d have to learn through the new rules in the new dynasty you found yourself in.

The only thing you both could do was possibly find a way to free Tso Lan or at least wait for his return.
