Because SP currently has Ashes of Love fever, I will follow through and make a post of my own related to the TV show.

There's a lot of cultural stuff going on in the show and I admit that I only know about it from my mom and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.

Building off that, inaccuracies with character names:

Lao Hu: Not a complete translation. This is simply the pinyin, which is basically just a group of letters used to dictate a character's pronounciation. Furthermore, there are lots of homophones in Chinese. This guy's name could be 老虎 or tiger. Judging by his costume, he’s not a tiger. His name is 老胡, which literally translates to “Old Carrot.” Yeah. He’s the carrot god and he is also old.

Moon Immortal: This is a funny one. I like the way this god was cast, although his character certainly doesn't match his Chinese folklore counterpart. As he is called in Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, the Moon Immortal is the Old Man of the Moon. Old Man. The book expands his role to tying his red string around the ankles of people who meet in the future, but his real role is the celestial matchmaker, which is also why he's always shipping people in the TV show. Just remember he's supposed to be a wise is man and not a bubbly 20-30-year-old.

Honestly? I didn't watch that much. I just watched what my mom watched during meals and the funny scenes. Just some side notes:

The jumping into the mortal world thing is like what happened in the other popular TV show, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms or whatever English name it is called

80% or something over 50% of the money spent in this show was on special effects

A lot of the places are actually real, not just green screens

Such as the river in the Demon Realm (or whatever you wanna call it); that green tint is because they stuck lots of fluorescent green lights in a river

Dragonboy (that is what I call him) had a birthday party there and he was wearing his wig the whole time

Actually most of them had their birthdays during filming

I enjoyed watching them fly through the air because of powerful hair dryers in the (official) behind the scenes
