friendly reminder that as excited as we all absolutely should be about nasa finally getting to do some real science again, we need to remember that the United States of America has not agreed to refrain from mining the moon and has in fact made it legal for companies to mine the moon and other celestial bodies for profit.
already.
obviously, this is not good.
we can't let everything that's been happening here on Earth happen on other planets too. they need to be preserved and maintained, not dug out, exploited and stripped clean.
when we begin to expand out into the stars, we need to treat any new planet we settle on like we are guests because we've seen how humans treat home and as exciting as the idea of space exploration is, the idea that we're already planning on hollowing out celestial bodies the same way we've done to Earth before we've even established a base needs to concern more people.
