Private or public is fine! May I have a general reading, please?
I’ve been experimenting with Lenormand of late, so bear with me while I play a little bit here.
Five cards, with a signifier in the center and two pairs pulling at it from either side.
The Heart: This is you. You have in you joy and openness, and a generous heart. The question is what is tugging at that heart.
On the left, the Bear and the Garden: Communal work, difficult but worthwhile, emphasizing the effort you make together.
On the right, the Tower and the Crossroad: A lonely choice stands before you, in which you could literally choose solitude and structure over any other path.
There seems to be an element of duty to either path before you, but they’re different kinds. Because you’re caught between them, it seems logical to examine them, and the reasons why they pull at you and your heart. Look not at the options themselves, but at your compulsions to choose one or the other.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else, okay?
Ooo Snow, are you still open for season spread readings? :)
Here it is! Is it me, or is your avi extra cute right now?

Roots: The Chariot
The charioteer drives a vessel drawn by perfectly-matched seahorses. She’s spry, energetic, and in control— this is her thrill, her very element. Generally speaking, autumn gives you the opportunity to harness your skills to a focused success. It’s quite positive, and really kinda fun.
Stem: Seven of Swords
This past season was characterized by avoidance, the kind of where you believe problems will go away if you just ignore them hard enough. You’re probably learning how that doesn’t work. Maybe you’re not as sneaky as you would have hoped, and you just can’t avoid the consequences of a situation. No weaseling out for you, I’m afraid, but now you can start to rise out of this, confront it head-on, and get yourself away from this fallow period.
First Branch: The Moon
In Joie de Vivre, this card is more than dreams or illusions, it’s pure inspiration. You know that moment in a performance where the whole audience is spellbound, collectively suspended by the power of what the artist creates? That’s the kind of energy this card is giving off, and it’s something you’ll have a chance to experience this autumn. Regardless of your own artistic propensities, it indicates a moment when the world opens up and dreams can become real.
Second Branch: Page of Swords
This Page bears an intellectual challenge. On this path, you’re just as eager as he is to prove himself. It’s an opening to exercise knowledge newly acquired and stretch your brain. It feels like stepping into a cool wind and having faith that you’re ready for anything.
A Broken Branch: The Wheel
In this card is a complex intermingling of timing and balance. The force of perpetual motion won’t wait for anyone, and a person has to really be aware of what they’re doing in order to not miss any opportunities. You might, the cards warn, miss out on something you wanted. Either the timing’s not right or the pieces just can’t get together. It happens. You might just have to live with it.
First Leaf: Seven of Coins
In this adorable card, two gazelle-like creatures with fairy wings take a second to enjoy the literal fruits of their labors. They’ve worked hard together, and are standing back to admire it. The strength of the possibilities in the Moon can actually become something, which is really exciting. Heady dreams can make something happen, and once you’ve worked to achieve it, you get to be proud and delight in it a little.
Second Leaf: Two of Coins
On a different path, the Page’s enthusiasm could become too much. If you have the stamina and skill to balance a lot of disparate projects at one time, so much the better for you, but have a care that you aren’t pushing yourself too far. I get the sense that the Seven involves just one focus, and maybe that’s why it grew so well.
Taking action and starting again seems to improve things for you this autumn. Facing situations head-on and being honest about yourself and your capabilities appears to lead to the most fruitful paths. Good luck!
I’m using Joie de Vivre this time, which is something of a Cheshire cat in seventy-eight related parts. It’s playful and hopeful at the same time, which is a little bit of a challenge to read, but really fun. Like having a conversation with someone who can’t ever stop making jokes yet always has something great to say.
These readings are closed. Just posting the last ones.
Roots: Page of Swords
Adaptable, insightful, and intelligent, the Page stands ready for anything. At least, he thinks so! He’s eager to prove himself, even if he doesn’t have the skill of a trained Knight. It’s exciting, to feel him anticipating the coming storm. That waiting thrill, generally speaking, is what the season of autumn holds for you.
Stem: Nine of Swords
Fear, the kind that freezes the blood in your veins, and the sort of worry that bypasses the logical parts of your brain. That rhyme was unintentional. Some anxiety from summertime overtook your perspective, casting a lasting cloud of discomfort about you. It makes the brilliant beginning of the Page even better, because it shows your chance to step out of that feeling. You can see things more clearly, and understand your worries for what they really are.
First Branch: Six of Cups
This card shows a nostalgic little dream, with friends reunited by their memories. It’s innocent and comforting, and it’ll give you a chance to regain some strength. It’s an opening, though, not the ultimate end or goal of this path. Just something to help you along your way. :)
Second Branch: Eight of Coins
An innovative magician plies his skill, lost in his work and thoroughly enjoying it. Here’s the energy and intelligence of the Page of Swords applied. He’s so involved in it that nothing else exists, which might make him short-sighted at some point, but for now, it’s just about the technical joy of it. Again, a great expression of the Page’s beginning, because there’s a direction to the inspiration now.
A Broken Branch: Four of Coins
This elegant, refined spider-woman has all the trappings of wealth and nobility, and she keeps them gathered to her with paranoid devotion. She refuses to even move, lest she endanger her possessions. The warning is pretty clear: Don’t let caution and gratitude for what you have make you stagnate in nervous indecision. Don’t let the Nine of Swords continue.
First Leaf: The Hierophant
The empowerment suggested in the Six of Cups is fully expressed here. Drawing strength from the past gives you some of the Hierophant’s certainty and influence, and enables you to be a guide to others if you so choose. There’s also this undercurrent of this figure being a little overexcited by his power, though, which might mean that this is a longer and more complicated path than this reading shows.
Second Leaf: Two of Coins
The sheer number of tasks that the magician in the Eight of Coins is involved in could be too much. The downside to getting so completely wrapped up in your work is that it’s easy to lose perspective and let other things fall by the wayside. It’s important, then, to keep your priorities in balance. That way the plates you spin may wobble but never fall.
It looks like you’re going to receive some interesting challenges this autumn, ones that help bring you back to yourself and lessen your anxiety. Enjoy exercising that wonderful brain of yours.
I hope I'm not too late, but may I have a season spread reading? Thanks a lot, and I love the idea of everyone getting presents on your birthday! I might have to do that with my friends too!
It’s a fun way to look forward to things and celebrate each other year-round. Our friends are getting a bunch of supplies for cake decorating and a new game for my birthday. :)
Roots: Four of Wands, reversed
There is much work to do before the rewards can come. The best relationships are still developing, like far-off waves, and the contentment of a job well done is yet to be had. This season is one of preparation, with the harvest to be enjoyed later. It’ll come eventually, though, so don’t let yourself get complacent.
Stem: Ten of Swords
Sometime last season, this card suggests, was a stinging loss, the pain of which lasts longer than the difficulty itself. It would seem you’re still recovering, and that’s okay. What’s gone might simply have to be accepted as lost, the shame of hard lessons learned processed. I think this season will be a time of recovery, then, which is grueling work, but essential.
First Branch: Seven of Wands
Obstinate courage gives a fighter the advantage has he literally stands before the weapons of his foes. That you will be successful is not in doubt, if you proceed boldly and trust yourself. This is a path of victory, but one that you carve yourself, not one that’s handed to you.
Second Branch: Page of Wands
Eager and well-mannered, a refined Page bears a message. He’s gentle and familiar enough that the rabbits around him don’t fear him at all. A congenial beginning, definitely, coming naturally and easily. It seems equally social and spiritual, which is pretty nice, actually. Regardless, some longer path or project of significance is ready to start this season.
A Broken Branch: Six of Swords
Should a move or journey be approaching, the cards are warning you about it. It might not hold all that you hope it will, and hanging onto high expectations will likely make things more difficult for you. One big gesture, no matter how necessary it may seem, can’t fix everything that you think is wrong. The cards don’t advise against it or predict disaster, but expectations should definitely be tempered.
First Leaf: The Tower
This is one of those time when a scary-seeming card is actually helpful. All the pain and mourning in it feels to me like obstinate resistance to change. Things always alter and carry on, and it seems that these people clung to their complacent way of living far longer than it was useful. Here’s the thing, though. You don’t have to be one of those people. The victory assured by the Seven of Wands directly relates to this change. It might not be easy, but if you know what you’re fighting for, and you trust that you can help shape your life no matter what comes, you have absolutely no need to fear the Tower’s fall. It was always going to come. You can either harness it, or cower in its shadow.
Second Leaf: The Hanged Man
One of my least favorite clichés is the phrase that was bandied about in every filmmaking class I attended in college: Hurry up and wait. Even typing it now is a little annoying, but it’s a good representation of what happens on this path. You make inroads with the Page of Wands. You make a connection and get something started. After that, it’s out of your hands. The Hanged Man is here to compel you to be patient and understand when you can do nothing. Your control over a certain situation must be temporarily suspended. And that’s okay. You won’t get anything from grinding your teeth and trying to prod another person into action.
A lot of newness, here, plenty of projects and change. Challenges, to be sure, but it seems like they’re tests of character that you’re ready to meet. I hope this helps, and that all goes well for you.
May I please get a reading too, if there is a spot? I can't believe I haven't followed you before! *hides face in shame*
Hi! Thanks for waiting. I was away from my computer for a long while and didn’t want to post this little guy without a readmore. :) I saw long, pale grasses waving under wide, cool skies of an indeterminate hour. It was lovely and refreshing, and I had the sense that beasts and stars alike were near even though I couldn’t see them.
Roots: Ace of Coins
Everything pictured in this card is sumptuous and gorgeous. From the angel’s lush red hair to the mingled scents of earth and trilling peacock, it’s a sensual uproar, and I love it. Something of physical paradise may well descend upon you this season, and the comfort and excitement it brings lingers over everything, like the strongest scent of flowers.
Stem: Knight of Wands
The eagerness of this Knight is tempered by mastery, and loyalty holds his ambition in check. He is proud and excited, certain of his triumph, but also watchful. It’s a good balance of the extreme qualities a fiery warrior sometimes carries. The success that balance creates is what brought you from last season to this one. Maybe you met a challenge with valor, maybe you were able to conquer a habit or really get to know yourself. Either way, it’s this that sets you up so nicely for Autumn.
First Branch: Ace of Wands
Another Ace so quickly means that you could be looking at beginnings, and another card from Wands supports the energy and potency of them. Inspiration drives this angel forward, and nothing can take away from the sweep of that motivation. It’s a gift, it really is, and perhaps unexpected. Regardless, it breathes new life into boring projects and makes obstacles unimportant. This is the first thing Autumn might hold for you.
Second Branch: Seven of Swords
The first thing I noticed was the smug grin this red-capped thief seems to wear. As he makes off with another’s weapons, he’s in love with his own cleverness, having tricked or snuck them away. This card has a big trickster vibe. That pride could be dangerous, though. There is always someone more clever, more skilled, and care should be taken if real consequences are to be avoided.
A Broken Branch: Six of Cups
Nostalgia is a pitfall this season. Getting over-involved in the past, to the point at which you spend all your time trying to right it, is a misdirection and a waste. I particularly feel for the younger child, sitting at its sibling’s feet and begging for attention and validation. Don’t let such memories overwhelm you, and try not to look too deeply into the past. It honestly feels like it leads nowhere at all.
First Leaf: The Hanged Man
Patience and a necessary sacrifice give a strange sort of serenity. You may find that you have to set your own desires aside for a little while and do focus on others. It might seem like exactly the wrong thing in the face of that storm of inspiration from the Ace of Wands, but it doesn’t necessarily have to detract from it. It’s a redirection, really. If you’re forced to lie in wait and hold yourself in reserve, it might be useful to see how it’s useful. The Hanged Man has no choice but to see the bigger picture. He has nothing but time in which to achieve perspective.
Second Leaf: Four of Coins
A windfall comes with complications. The ill-gotten gains of the Seven of Swords are definitely enjoyable, but the warning that goes with them is even clearer. The victory may be temporary, and the consequences are a real sucker-punch. Beware, then, of playing games with people, and of dear treasures obtained too easily. Keep your head, and you should be all right.
This one was fun, and felt a lot like Night Circus style fortunetelling. It’s lovely to meet you, and I wish you luck this Autumn.
Mind if I snag a reading? (Ah you're using golden EEE!!)
I completely love this deck already. The way you were describing it is exactly how it feels to me. I find that so interesting, and the paths down which it leads me are just… Rocky and winding and enormously significant. I think autumn might prove to be complex for you. You’ll see what I mean. And hey, thanks for your patience in waiting for this.
Roots: Ten of Swords
This season, as sorry as I am to say it, is layered with a patina of loss and dismay. It is paramount that one understands the inevitable, because paranoia and over-defensiveness can be much more blinding than acceptance. I get the feeling that the tragically impaled got that way because of a sudden distraction or careless misstep. It seems that something like this might happen, without the stabbing part, forcing you to deal with your losses and move on. It may not be a change you were hoping for, but it’s one you can’t seem to avoid.
Stem: Strength
This card is doing a couple of things at once. First, it’s reinforcing the idea that whatever befalls you this autumn is something that needs to happen in terms of your development. Second, with the gilt and richness overtaking the image of the horse, with the suddenly smug cast to the young woman’s expression, tells me that what’s looming out from summer to influence this season is a kind of distraction. This is not so say that anything that happens is your fault. It’s more like you got distracted by pride or something similarly enveloping that has slipped you off of your true path. Strength is reminding you what that is, and letting you know that this season’s supposed calamity is really just a nudge to get you back on the best path for yourself and your gifts.
First Branch: King of Coins, reversed
Honestly, this man of riches looks like a tax collector to me, corrupt, greedy, and sightless to the trials of others. He’s the kind of person who is too mentally lazy to even entertain the ideas of others, and too selfish to realize he isn’t listening. Your first path involves a person like this, a particularly frustrating interaction because they might at first be the one in power. I find myself feeling disgusted and annoyed at the mere possibility of this person’s existence. This person might cause the season’s consternation, or they might just be a small part of it.
Second Branch: Ace of Wands
Bold and certain, this angel appears to be plucking real flowers from the pages of a book. The power of creativity is unbelievably intense, here. It’s the kind of inspiration that, when shared and brought to action, moves mountains. Fire poses no danger to it. Fear is nothing before it. The chance that you have to live in this fervor is extraordinary, and its echoes could last a lot longer than anything else in this reading if harnessed in the best possible way.
A Broken Branch: Temperance
I see Temperance before me, and am compelled to raise the description to Temerity. The angelic figure seems so involved in seeking that quiet equilibrium that she completely ignores the messenger above her. I say “messenger” particularly because of the irises, a flower that always bears such to me. The cards argue against too much caution, especially if it overwhelms all your focus. Interesting that it comes after the Ten of Swords, but I’d argue it’s worry itself that’s the problem. Worrying so much over imagined futures could make a person miss the danger right in front of them. Awareness, then, is key.
First Leaf: The Moon
Confronting the struggle head-on is the way to break free of it at last. The understanding that it’s temporary is a wisdom and a comfort. The trials of the Moon build strength and strip away falsehood and distraction in equal measure. They’ll enable you to see someone like the perverted King for what he really is, and that kind of clarity is incredibly empowering. A worthy reward, I’d say.
Second Leaf: Three of Coins, reversed
Temperance is sending little tendrils of warning into all of the negative cards in this reading. The inspiration and gifts of the Ace of Wands could be squandered if you let them, and this Three warns of the folly of comparing yourself to others. It’s especially true for those moments when someone else might get recognition that you think you deserve more. The elaboration of what’s in the Ace is diverted, and frustrated, but not lost. Let the gifts express themselves in their own time, the card argues, and don’t give up when your plans don’t initially work out.
You’re likely to be put in some frustrating and precarious positions, but how you handle them determines the severity of the outcome. Imbalances of power, social or otherwise, continually poke at your patience. It’s rife with conflicting egos, and the challenge is not to get completely pinned down by them. They get in the way even if competition isn’t part of your nature. Difficulty, mishap, setbacks? Yeah, those might well happen. But you have the potential to handle them with boldness and grace, and I think you’ll find that they help you get back to yourself. All the best wishes, my friend.
Fox friend, cactus-flower, you may have whatever you wish. I was almost done shuffling for you when I felt compelled to turn a card over from the middle. It was Justice, and it has a lot of the colors that were blooming in my mind as I asked about you. This card, with its brass-voiced and melancholy angel, watches over you during this reading. No amount of pain or distraction can keep it from its task, and its certainty is always greater than its suffering.
(2/12 available. Dig this and this.)
Roots: The Star
Such an emotive Star. She gives hope and endurance, a kindly push along your way. Her smile seems so much wider than the image allows. Usually, this card fills me with serenity, but right now it’s exciting, like the thrill of a growing storm. Autumn is going to be heady for you, I can tell, but the Star’s presence means that it’s not dangerous, but good. Enveloping, maybe, but definitely not bad.
Stem: Four of Cups
The sullen disenchantment of the youth in this card is like grit in my teeth. He’s not satisfied with what he has, and he’s missed out on something he really wants, so he rejects what’s offered in its place. It seems like he’s not happy with his place in the world. It’s like a single setback has made the whole world seem less lustrous and every other part of your life seem more backward. Set upon by the world, it seems, that lingering, angering letdown is the strongest thing coming through from last season.
First Branch: Four of Wands
Three women prepare a bath while a celebration builds behind them. They have an unspoken companionship that doesn’t dim when they start to gossip, and it’s giving me all kinds of philosophical tinglings. It’s an interesting notion, to have people in a supposedly inferior position care so little about their place in the world. They contribute, and they’re happy to, but their sense of community doesn’t automatically signify devotion and obeisance. It’s individuality instead of humility. They simply gauge themselves according to a different scale, even as they appear to fit in to the norm. This is an interesting opportunity for you, I think, and not one with which you’re unfamiliar. Far from it. It’s the association that’s unique and different, like befriending a legion of outcasts, except your life isn’t a movie from the late eighties.
Second Branch: Three of Wands
A certain eagerness and surety is coming in waves off of this card. Whatever new project the Three of Wands signifies, it’s one well within your capabilities and suited to your ambitions. If it’s a journey, it will be a fruitful one. I think you can look forward to an opportunity that will make the displeasure of the Four of Cups seem less potent, at least in some respects.
A Broken Branch: Queen of Wands
“Beware a redheaded woman” would be inaccurate, but the ominousness of saying it is very tempting. A passionate, sensual person, governed by a mercurial temper that can turn a genial exchange icy in an instant. It’s the temper that you have to be ‘ware of. Admittedly, this feels more like a third party to me. Dancing on eggshells could be just as damaging as ignoring the warnings altogether. Matching wills with someone like this could distract from other things you’re meant to do this autumn, but it may be inevitable.
First Leaf: Death
This card is so restful. Death covers a lady in gentle sleep, and little angels touch her face in tender benediction. This is a mellow slide into another state of being. The simplicity and genuineness of the Four of Wands can release you from a rut you might have been in. Maybe a new sort of friendship opens your eyes, maybe a humbling experience lifts you up. It seems like the equal enjoyment of work and companionship allows you to rise out of the murk of worldly concerns and approach your life a little differently.
Second Leaf: Knight of Coins
This Knight is so great, so steadfast and enduring. I really like the innocent nobility he carries. It’s genuine virtue without a burden of ego. The commitment in the Three of Wands enhances these qualities in you, and it’s not hard to conclude that there will be rewards beyond that. You gain direction and more strength to stand on your own.
It feels like everyday concerns are spilling over into other aspects of your life. The steps you’ll be able to take this autumn can start to unpack some of that for you, but it seems to require that you discard some of the stubborn frustration that has been lingering. Justice casting her shadow across this whole reading helps ensure that your actions will be right ones, and the Star brightens your hopelessness. I wish you luck with it, love.
If you're still taking requests may I please have a seasons spread reading?
You bet! This is a great one, so I’m really excited for you to see autumn.
(3/12 available. See here and here for details. I have three more on deck, but I’ll spread them out as much as I can. <3)
Roots: Six of Cups
This card makes me think of Alice and her sister reading on the bank. It’s an image of childhood companionship and nostalgia, and these energies carry through all of autumn. Just looking at it brings back scents and memories. It makes total sense why such longing would define this season for you, even as a small, recurring theme.
Stem: Eight of Wands
A message is sped through the air, and a change of tides along with it, a sudden spur to action. Some similar moment of inspiration or motivation from last season set you on this path.
First Branch: The Hermit
An ascetic seeks the isolation of the forest, wild and gentle beasts his only companions. He pursues a life free from the strictures and falsehoods of civilization, and by being true to himself, he finds it. The first potential path for you is congruent to that. Some truth inside you sets you apart, even slightly, and you have the chance to follow where it leads. Maybe you need a break from the world at large to clear your head. The need to retreat is strong, I think, and likely this autumn.
Second Branch: Strength
This is already threatening to be my favorite card in this deck. It really enunciates the notion of Strength as a virtue, and the idea of virtue being exercised for others. Innate resilience and incorruptible understanding suffuse the whole image without contempt or self-righteousness. It’s power without its seeking, so to speak. You may also have the opportunity to nurture these things within yourself, and, moreover, have the wherewithal to exercise them for others as well as yourself. You’ve got two really great paths to take, ones that easily coincide.
A Broken Branch: The Hanged Man
What usually looks like patient forbearance in the demeanor of the Hanged Man looks like boredom to me now. This deck also implies a necessary sacrifice, and I can tell you that right now, it seems grudging at best. The way this card feels has a kind of jarring juxtaposition with the Eight of Wands, like the inspiration fails you or you get drawn into doing something you don’t care about at all. The annoyance it causes feels like much more trouble than it’s worth. It’s a warning, therefore, not to let yourself feel dragged along by duty or misguided necessity.
First Leaf: Ace of Coins
After the self-induced solitude and lack of the Hermit comes a windfall, a gift of wellness and material comfort. Taking some time away clearly has benefits that trickle down from the spiritual into the physical. Maybe all it takes is some recalibration, a bit of a cleansing for your mind and soul, and things start to get improve on their own. It’s not the reason to step back, of course, but nourishing yourself spiritually frequently has other benefits, and the cards are reminding you of that chance to illuminate how important it is.
Second Leaf: Judgement
One of the most overtly religious cards in this deck, it contains a great becoming. It’s the step onto a new plane, the courage to assess and find oneself ready, a fresh beginning and an eager end. I can’t help but notice how the assembled crowd presses. They’re so anticipatory, as excited for themselves as they are for their revived and triumphant savior. That step upward, that greater type of self, awaits you at the end of Strength’s path. It might not be a huge evolution. It might be an unfolding blossom as opposed to, you know, Pokémon of the soul, but it’s real and important and there.
This is an encouraging reading. The number of majors shows a big interplay between the high-minded, spiritual currents of your life and your day-to-day existence this autumn. Seeking clarity and betterment in the former, the cards argue, consistently helps you deal with the latter. I hope this helps you. This was a really pleasant one for me! :)
