The bell tinkled, announcing company. Now there was a familiar reiatsu he hadn't felt in ages—

"Suzu-san!" the shopkeeper crowed cheerily as he made his way to the shop's entrance, touching the brim of his hat in greeting. "What brings you to this side?" He glanced about the wares on display. "Something that may only be procured here, in this humble, esoteric little shop tucked away in sleepy Karakura?" His eyes then glanced upward, at the sprig of mistletoe she might have failed to notice on setting foot inside. It would be her only warning— the next moment, she'd find him smirking, after pulling his lips back from firm and enthusiastic contact with her own.

"Something like that, perhaps?" He grinned mischievously. "I could give you another to take back to your captain—"

~*~ Kaisa was one of the youngest seated officers within the Gobantai. She was also still quite reckless and immature at times. The young soul was still so very young, yet had gone through so much, just like other shinigami. The majority of them were practically children when even joining the academy. Even so many were still children taking on officer roles and going to war.

She was known for her late nights finishing paperwork with a whole pot of coffee to herself. This was normal. Even after some rough assignments she was still ever diligent and always doing what she could to not fall short of completing her duties as an officer. This also made her tired, made her not always suitable to go out on her own to take care of hollows.

This last one she was sent with the third seat at the behest of their captain. He seemed to know that there was something wrong with the blonde but he hadn’t pulled her from active duty. Unfortunately their assignment didn’t go as smoothly as it should have been. Kaisa’s reaction times were slowed by her self-inflicted exhaustion and ended up injured and knocked out. She hadn’t known that Yamashita had also been injured. All she knew was that her fellow officer had got her to safety.

The days of being cared for seemed to be taking a toll on Suzuran, seeming to look more pale to Kaisa as her own injuries were starting to heal. Kaisa couldn’t stop observing her, noting that something wasn’t quite right.

Her suspicions came to light as Yamashita was carrying two bowls of food towards Kaisa and collapsed. Kaisa moved quickly trying to catch her, not even caring about the food. Her emerald eyes were wild as she looked for the cause.

“Yamashita-san,” she said, her voice full of concern, “Yamashita-san, tell me where it is. Let me look at it.”

               “ I’unno what yer talkin’ ‘bout! ” Shinji crammed the last bit of dango which he had filched from his third seat and quickly hauled ass. The woman was speaking, well, more like yelling, the obvious. The dango obviously didn’t walk away, it ran!

Isane sighed to herself as she saw her girlfriend fall asleep, mid-hair-washing. She couldn’t blame Suzu, though, she’d have probably done the same. Still, it’d made the actual cut hard if she couldn’t have the woman sit up on her own.

Once she was done with the final round of rinsing, Isane flicked drops of warm water onto the plum-haired officer’s face, and spoke softly, “Suzuran, wake up. It’s time to wake up.”
