[ * You haven’t felt like this in a very long time. It’s a bit disorienting. ]
[ * You feel DETERMINED. ]
“good evening, miss singh.” His words resound into a homey little kitchen inside the suburban home outside Laverre City, catching the monster in front of him off guard. His smile doesn’t falter, of course, but it does shift to be somewhat sheepish as he raises a hand to wave in secondary greeting, and perhaps in silent apology for sneaking up her without really meaning to. “i’m not intruding on anything, am i?”
Her surprise immediately settles into a mix of amusement and joy. It’s been a while since he’s came to visit without the prior meeting of his magic training. He’s still wonderful company regardless of why he’s in her home, but it’s nice to just catch up and have a few laughs. “No, you’re not. I was just finishing up cleaning the kitchen, is all. Have a seat- I’ll make tea.”
He holds up his hand again, this time in the gesture of ‘stop’ that’s more than just universally understood. “that won’t be necessary this time. i won’t be around for very long. i actually... wanted to bring something to your attention before anything else happens.” His gaze shifts downwards for a few moments, then flickers to the table before returning to the lynx-type monster he calls his teacher. “could we-?”
“Of course, Fleur.”
The explanation doesn’t come easy, nor gracefully. He fumbles and trips over his words, wringing his hands to the point of having to be stopped several times in order to continue with his thoughts. But it seems that the nerves were just a part of his anxiety and hatred of confrontation again, for Inu-Bhakti merely smiles at him when he’s finished and nods.
“So, what I’m getting at here is,” she pauses for a moment. “In hopefully not too long from now, you’re going to be seeing if your Papa will take you back as a student. Not begging, even though you were told to?” She hums ( Why would anyone tell Fleur to beg for something he’s afraid of? That would just make matters worse. ) and continues. “And if that doesn’t work out, you’re going to request that he takes the seal off of your magic incrementally so you can go to an actual school of magic in another... universe? Reality? And learn from a well renowned teacher there who offered you enrollment in his school?”
Fleur nods, head bowed still. He doesn’t trust this sincerity and understanding from anybody outside of family. People can be really fucking good at muffling their emotions around others, like him.
“... Well, I say go for it!” She encourages with a bit too much volume, apologizing quietly for startling Fleur. “It’s not like there’s no such thing as having too many teachers. You know that, don’t you, Fleur? All I want from you, jeune homme, is try your best, no matter what happens. If it works out with your Papa? Fantasique! If it doesn’t work out with him but he agrees with the steadiness? Incroyable! That other teacher you mentioned-- Taako? If he accepts you and you learn so much from him that I couldn’t fully teach you? Whatever happens, I want you to keep one thing in mind, Fleur.”
He’s unable to respond after his hands are caught in her paws, stunned and yet... thankful?
