Goodbye, Ghost Game.
These guys deserved better than they got in the end 😓 Would have loved seeing these two too, but maybe we might see a movie or something one day, 2000 years, give or take. 🤷♀️

Oops I accidentally made another digimon au while you weren't looking
I’m doing the DIGIcember challenge this year! These are for days 1-6, my faves from Baby to Mega.
“Tag Tamers” has finally been completely translated to English, by Ajora Fravashi and NikcDC from Romhacking net. Yep, the game that’s basically Ken’s and Wormmon’s backstory for Adventure 02. If anyone is interested in playing it, the link is the second one in the description of this video.
Yes, it’s a Spanish video, but that’s how I found out. I’ll probably make a Let’s Play of it in this blog in a couple weeks.
Digimon Adventure Ep. 27 | New Continents, More Powerful! (Thanks For 200 Subs!)
The Digidestined arrives in the new continent, but struggle to fight the new threat. What will become of them? WAS THAT MOON-MILLENIUMMON?! Thoughts on the episode? Thank you for 200 subscribers!
So, now that DGG is over, I still feel Tamers is still the golden standard of Digimon anime for me. It just feels like they had a few interesting things set up or a few mysteries that they just dropped the ball on that lead to some big disappointments for me. This'll be long, so sorry if tldr:
Espimon's "fake Hiro" thing sounded interesting at first, perhaps there could be something off with our Hiro, or our Hiro potentially somehow being an imposter. But nah, just a misunderstanding/gag they carry on for way too long, like over 20 episodes 💀
The whole burn up if you try to go to the Digital World mystery (and how Hokuto got there) being just a bullshit lie when they dwell on it for more than 50 episodes. Like, yeah, they weren't ready by the time Bokomon died, but how long was Bakumon going to keep them in the dark?
Hokuto apparently got to the Digital World by accident, and could have apparently left any time rather than being trapped or working on some plot. (I always thought he had seemed a bit shifty, like one of those characters who is portrayed as goofy, but might be more sinister than they let on.)
The fact that Gulus was the main bad guy after all. GulusGammamon was set up as a threat, and like, ok, I wasn't against that, but (until the more hostile reversion seen in TonosamaGekomon's episode), it felt like he was slowly mellowing out a bit and could have been an ally at some point. Even as far back as the first episode he properly debuts in, we see his time as Gammamon has been affecting him, with him flashing back to Bokomon's death and dropping his attack/fainting and reverting to Gammamon. I assumed he might again cause problems in the long run, but would be absorbed by Gammamon and be a begrudging ally. (Also, we never do find out why he reverted to Gammamon and why Gammamon apparently lost that memory of him? It had to be post-failure in his mission to defeat the Endbringer since he had such a fearsome reputation in the Digital World, and the Endbringer thing feels just very random overall?)
Regulusmon being the final boss. While he's a stronger Perfect/Ultimate akin to Megidramon in power, he's still a Perfect/Ultimate. It's weird we're not facing a Mega final boss.
No Arcturusmon or Proximamon. My thoughts last episode was that Regulusmon would use the MoonMillenniummon crystal to power up into Arcturusmon, but Hiro and Siriusmon beat him with some bs power of friendship or whatever, with Gammamon's evil part getting absorbed, the evolution to Proximamon, and that it would then use its abilities of recreation to purge the Digital World of the GRB infection.
What the fuck about MoonMillenniummon's crystal anyway too? Never gets utilized or addressed outside of Hiro staring at it before they leave for the Digital World.
It also feels like there were a few villains that could have made more repeat appearances. Cherrymon, Weedmon, Lilithmon, and potentially Myotismon or Matadrmon.
Amphimon and Diarbbitmon barely doing anything outside their debuts. Diarbbitmon got off better than Amphimon, since he got to fight ZeedMillenniummon, but Amphimon really only managed to pull some minor support against Quartzmon. She got trapped by ClavisAngemon, and then her and Diarbbitmon got stomped by Bloomlordmon. We never saw our Mega trio win a fight together.
It feels like they could have done more with the kids getting secondary partners too, like there was the ever-present Espimon, Ruli was mentioned to have really hit things off with Airdramon, and Kiyoshiro was commonly shown with Ryudamon, who barely appeared after his evolution to Ginryumon. Plus, potential auxiliary Digidestined with Nomura, Riku, and the woman who befriended TonosamaGekomon.
Overall, I feel they either dropped the ball because they took too long keeping it episodic and getting moving on the story, or there was some executive meddling behind the scenes. Like, even as far along as the Lilithmon and ZeedMillenniummon episodes, it still felt like they were setting up, and then we get this rushed arc? It really feels like they planned for the series to have been much longer, but found out about the new show taking their timeslot and realized they didn't have the time to do what they wanted.
I'm genuinely sad about that too. I really loved the horror focus, the characters, and their Digimon. (That said, I really wish they had given us more of them dealing with trauma considering all the fucked-up, certain life-or-death scenarios they've been in, dealing with several Digimon that are literal serial killers, getting tortured at one point, and the forced transformations a few of them have undergone, etc., and that they'd been more proactive in trying to solve the series' mysteries. I feel they should have dropped the show being episodic at some point. It couldn't have stayed that way forever, and we're seeing what comes of keeping it that way for far too long.)
Hiro, no. Send that off with Blacktailmon. You cannot talk no jutsu a ZeedMillenniumon, what on earth is he keeping that for?! What kind of threat will that come into play against? Regulusmon? (Also, I guess the watch lighting up is just a signal to Blacktailmon? The last time we saw it do that, we also saw Blacktailmon make off with Nanomon. But here it just decides to let him keep it.)
Also, perhaps he’s searching for the “Real Hiro” to partner up, but we get some foreshadowing for Espimon, who will probably evolve pretty soon:
I suppose it resurrecting from human data explains why Zeed goes down this episode, the data of the single human corpse is a weaker source than the corpses of Digimon.
In 2020, it took two of the four great dragons and a spirit bomb Gaia Force to go down, compared to two very new Mega Digimon that don’t have some sort of illustrious title.
Also, RIP, Kiyoshiro getting in on the fight.
