synopsis : Jackal Merrigold is the third son that was quickly followed by a pair of twins and then the only girl , his favourite little sister Wendlyn.

where  his  family  disowned  the  youngest  merrigold  ,  once  jackal  realized  what  their  parents'  had  done  he  began  calling  her  once  a  week  until  school  started  .  though  he  had  the  best  of  intentions  to  keep  in  touch  life  got  in  the  way  .  calls  slowly  grew  further  and  further  apart  ,  though  his  refusal  to  join  his  family  in  shunning  his  youngest  sibling  for  not  being  able  to  transform  caused  strain  in  the  home  .

wendlyn's  shifting  was  great  news  ,  though  for  a  long  time  the  family  was  unaware  per  her  request  and  he  delighted  in  knowing  what  they  didn't  .  her  ability  to  shift  did  not  change  her  finicky  nature  he  was  pleased  to  note  having  often  been  on  the  receiving  end  of  one  of  her  despairing  wails  after  smearing  her  with  paint  ,  jam  ,  mud  ,  teasing  her  relentlessly  about  her  aversion  to  getting  dirty  which  jackal  firmly  believes  is  the  second  best  part  of  being  a  werewolf.

making  his  money  working  for  wolf  den  construction  ,  wolfram's  company  ,  he  spends  a  lot  of  time  travelling  to  sites  to  fill  a  spot  to  make  quick  cash  under  the  table  .  much  like  rhody  ,  jackal  lives  out  of  his  truck  ,  finding  beds  to  fall  into  for  a  while  for  a  bit  of  fun  .  where  most  werewolves  find  themselves  forced  to  shift  on  full  moons  jaegers  are  able  to  suppress  the  need  as  their  shift  is  cursed  based  and  not  moon  blessed  .  this  does  not  stop  jackal  from  taking  advantage  of  the  lore  and  enjoying  the  night  .

he  does  occasionally  attempt  to  repair  the  damage  done  by  his  parents'  inability  to  accept  a  child  that  could  not  shift  .  but  all  it  takes  to  dissuade  him  is  a  shot  or  two  .

Every time a woman said that to him it wound up being super complicated, and it got that way very fast. Worse, she was pretty, and smelled nice, which made his stupid brain try to override his common sense because maybe it was worth it.

'You lost me at the your cousin's got a kind of cousin of mine in him.'

That hadn't been entirely what she'd said, it was what he'd heard, and it was ridiculous. Rhody was literally known as the best boy. It was a whole thing through out the Jäger pack. You needed back up? Call Rhody. You needed a big guy but couldn't afford the way Opa would handle it? Call Rhody. Needed a wingman to help distract some girl's friend, or even her partner? Call Rhody.

His gaze flicked towards her phone again, nose wrinkling at the mess, more honestly the waste. Couldn't be Rhody, the liver was clearly still there. That fact locked in so hard Jackal couldn't shake it, that and Rhody did not lose control even when turned. See previously mentioned: best boy.
