hi so i'm going to make a totally surprising suggestion and request CLAUDE/HUBERT HEADCANONS. plus, please allow me to congratulate you on joining the world of character-centric Fire Emblem blogs. Welcome! I wish you the very best in your journey with Hubert.

As for Claude/Hubert hcs....

It'd definitely take a while for either of them to trust each other. Hubert because he isn't naturally a trusting person + the reputation Claude has given himself, and Claude because he isn't exactly a very trusting person either + Hubert is the type to lie straight to his face if it'd service Edelgard.

Once they've gained each other's trust though, he'll would freeze over before either of them would willingly break it. At that point, Hubert would start realizing that he doesn't need to base every decision on what would service Edelgard in the future, and would start seeking out Claude not because he wants to forge connections for Edelgard, but because he genuinely enjoys Claude's company.

Also, yall know that Hubert is canonically afraid of heights but wanted to be a pegasus knight right? (It's in one of the confession notes you do in the cathedral, and I'm STILL salty that pegasus knights are a female-locked class...)

Imagine Claude helping Hubert get over his fear of heights! Taking him for flights on his wyvern, and constantly making sure that Hubert is okay and not "about to throw up out of fear" (because trust me, that can happen, and it SUCKS). And eventually even helping Hubert get a pegasus of his own because I WILL EAT MY FOOT BEFORE WILLINGLY ADMIT THAT PEGASUS KNIGHT HUBERT IS NOT BLESSED

so hi it's me again. i actually want to see headcanons with someone you think would comfort and dote over hubert like crazy. :) hubert/therapy for me!

WELL. WASNT THIS A FUN ASK TO GET AFTER WHAT I JUST WROTE

Just *scribbles out the angst I literally just wrote* HMMMM WHO WOULD DOTE ON HUBERT HUH

I had to think about it for a good while, but I gotta say Mercedes, actually!

Hubert being soft for whoever his s/o happens to be is something you can pry out of my cold dead hands, especially in the case of these two. An interaction I can imagine being something along the lines of

Hubert, angry: Do you realize-

Mercedes: Hubie, it's fine dear,

Hubert: ....fine.

There are often times Hubert ends up thinking he isn't good enough for someone like Mercedes. Whenever Mercedes finds out that Hubert is thinking these kinds of things, she ends up devoting a day to just showing how much she truly loves Hubert.

Also, doesn't Mercedes ends up opening an orphanage? I'm soft as hell for the idea of Hubert helping her open the place, and eventually helping her take care of the children (and becoming even softer in the process :'D)
