Mercedes could call Hubert something like "Boo-bert", something ghost related like that as a pet name

As adorable as this nickname is....I can't help but feel like this is related to another blog entirely...

On the chance this isn't related though, it is an adorable nickname! Just imagine Mercie even making a little motion whenever she says the "Boo!" In the nickname...Hubert would be trying to fight down the amount of warmth flooding his being at that (even if his face is clearly tinged pink).

You didn't explicitly request headcanons, but these two are adorable, so as a bonus:

Mercedes actually helps teach Hubert some Faith magic. Hubert thought his hands too scarred and bloodied to be able to heal anything, but Mercedes went out of her way to show him that he still could. Though he could never say it out loud, it meant the world to him that someone like her would even try to help someone like him.

I had to think about it for a good while, but I gotta say Mercedes, actually!

Hubert being soft for whoever his s/o happens to be is something you can pry out of my cold dead hands, especially in the case of these two. An interaction I can imagine being something along the lines of

Hubert, angry: Do you realize-

Mercedes: Hubie, it's fine dear,

Hubert: ....fine.

There are often times Hubert ends up thinking he isn't good enough for someone like Mercedes. Whenever Mercedes finds out that Hubert is thinking these kinds of things, she ends up devoting a day to just showing how much she truly loves Hubert.

Also, doesn't Mercedes ends up opening an orphanage? I'm soft as hell for the idea of Hubert helping her open the place, and eventually helping her take care of the children (and becoming even softer in the process :'D)
