This is Day TWO of the Studyblr Squeeze 2018 Challenge! Feel free to join the challenge and attempt it at your own pace, it’s incredibly important to reflect back on life in order to do better in the future.
DAY TWO: Recall the times you set goals for yourself. And clapped for yourself.
I couldn't even make myself type this, i was so ashamed and embarrassed, sweet lambs.
2018 was a BIG fail externally. If you read my wins, you’ll see that most of them were personal growth related. Which is awesome! YET, if i don't use my growth to expand and make things happen, it’s not of much use. I don't think becoming a spiritual monk is on my career list anyway.
Few reasons for this fail -
I set the wrong goals for the year: Here, take a look at my goals list for the second half of the year -
(i had to white out some part for privacy reasons, btw.)
I accomplished around 50% of some goals while others become home to dust bunnies. A lot of these goals, like most of the “outside exams” i had planned to give, weren’t really priorities. And hence, i failed to accomplish them, because i felt no real drive to chase them.
I didn't plan my goals out on my calendar: i could've easily read 40 books this year (i hit 33 btw, pretty close) and worked out harder had i planned out specific reading times and planned my workouts out in advance instead of jumping in on a evening and being like, “ok, hopping kangaroos and dancing tacos, let’s do it!”
I didn't stay accountable: i rarely opened this doc to check on my goals and track how much i’d progressed with them. A huge mistake. Not only i forgot what i was meant to do a LOT of the times (exams and school work tended to overwhelm me), i also forgoed the motivation i’d have gained had i checked up with my goals.
And THAT helped me accomplish next to nothing in terms of external goals. This is so sad, alexa, play despacito. (literally.)
--- What am I doing to change that?
I’m not perfect. No one really is. I preach about life and about conquering your effin life already, but i make mistakes too. I’m just a human growing, and recording everything i’ve learned via .pdf.
(i sometimes think about looking back on these posts 10 years from now and exclaiming how the people who follow me now literally GREW with me. Just saying, if y’all wanna be featured in my content years from now, follow me. Yes, i'm shameless.)
Here’s the game plan, fellas
The first step is setting the right goals. Day 5 of this challenge focuses exactly on that, stay tuned.
As i jot my goals, i’m also going to plan out an action plan for each so that i know exactly when and how i’m going to attack my goals.
Main thing, i’m going to update my progress on this blog, at the end of every week. That's 51 updates (as the first week will just be planning) under the tag ‘#attack 2019’. These will go live every MONDAY, so if you’re willing to be my accountability partner, jot your goals and tell me your progress in the comments of every update post.
I failed miserably at accomplishing my 2018 goals because 1) i set the wrong goals and 2) i didn't stay accountable (mainly).
I’m changing that in 2019.
I’ll post my goals for 2019 during week 1, under day 5 of this challenge.
Every monday of 2019 (starting from week 2), i’ll be updating you with my progress. If you want to stay accountable, update your progress in the comments on the ‘#attack 2019’ posts and i’ll cheer you on!
