ooh yeah that's a really valid point!! they all did fall into serious, committed relationships really young, for one reason or another. asa and finn would still have the same strong friendship whether they ever became romantic or not, and even if it didn't work out, i truly believe they would still have that bond. so i don't really count them as part of this, although i understand why others would. elaine was most definitely looking for “the one” and when austin asked her out, she was like “oh okay i guess i just found my soulmate :D” sjdskjd and stevie never wanted to be in a committed relationship at all; she literally never would’ve guessed that she would be with matt for over a year now and actually fall in love with him. jada is also not looking for a serious relationship, she’s just chilling lmaoo but all her friends have their own perceptions of how relationships should play out. it definitely informs each of their individual reactions to alisa / any potential relationships that could come of it.
also omg it really has been forever since we’ve seen a fun casual fling like beth/carmen.... i need to get on that
i’m so glad you said that because i completely agree!! asa is usually very level headed and impartial when it comes to meeting new people, but no one could blame him for feeling more cynical than usual. he’s in his bella swan depression era jfkjsds we’ll just have to see if he’s right or not 👀
