Chapter 1 of Moonwalking turtles au
[ rottmnt x Michael Jackson ]
-- Mr. Jackson, are you sure about Baron Draxum?
Michael Jackson was looking at skyscraper with large logo of goat holding vinyl. Sunglasses in golden frames were protecting his eyes from blinding sun and reviling too much emotions to cruel press waiting for him outside his car.
-- Yes. He is a bad man, Jacob.
Michael took a deep breath.
I am beautiful, I am loved, I am the best. I can do it. I can stand for what is right.
-- It is my duty as a human to stop what he’s planning to do.
Jacob looked at his boss. Young bodyguard were expecting to see the greatest performer in the world, but instead he had a sad, scared and very tired middle aged man sitting behind him. And yet, despite all this negativity and stress, that tired man was ready to stood up for his beliefs. That was… a weird feeling. Seeing someone so broken and still full of determination.
In the moment security opened car’s door, King of pop appeared again in front of flashing cameras. Gracefully unbothered, he walked past the press, smiled at his fans and just before entrance, he rapidly turned to the screaming public and it was clear he wanted them to be quiet.
And even louder screams when he waved to his fans. He made the last victory sign, send them last kiss and majestically disappeared in darkness of private building of his enemy like a ghost of legendary hero in end of his era. He left crying crowd of loyal fans and intrusive paparazzi behind.
Drax Records changed from the moment Michael left. Grey, soulless walls of unwelcoming hall didn’t even try to imitate politeness like old ones. Just like their owner, steel and concreate dropped mask of kindness and started embracing cold functionality.
Cameras observed every detail of Jackson’s body. He wondered if his personal security also felt piercing look of artificial eyes on their faces.
Suspiciously average person didn’t even bother to glance at guests. If anything, she (or he?) wasn’t bothered by anything, just like every other identically looking worker in Draxum’s office. It was almost like if they were some alien species and not humans.
It was very uncomfortable thought and Michael scolded himself of thinking such a stupid thing in that serious situation.
Steps of four people walking to Draxum’s office made echo on empty hall. Michael found a strange comfort in hearing his black loafer shoes loudly announcing his presence.
The longer they walked, the more Michael had the feeling that something was wrong. It started as faint thoughts, but now all parts of his body wanted to storm out of the building.
He tried to slightly bite his cheek so no one would notice how scared he was.
His eyes were suddenly tired.
The moment he blinked, his security was gone. Two professional, stronger than majority of people bodyguards disappeared like they never existed.
He wanted to freak out. This internal scream was choking him from inside, his blood was pumping, his head was shouting "RUN"!
Then the office worker turned to him.
-- Baron Draxium is waiting for you.
The blank eyes of said worker were staring at Michael. They pierced his soul and were absent at the same time.
This place didn't want Michael Jackson to leave. It wanted to trap him.
And he didn't wanted to be trapped.
He looked around. Blinked a few times.
The worker also left, and suddenly the most popular popstar in the world was left alone.
The hall was infinite. Michael walked and walked and walked and...
The soles of his shoes clattered on the marble floor as he was dashing and passing never ending identical doors.
He felt like a deer trying to escape from invisible hunter.
Then the corridor ended and last thing he knew is that he crashed on the wall.
It may or may not be a copying mechanism for grieving MJ :)
