Day 5: Truth or Dare
The night grew darker as though a pitch-black tapestry covered the whole sky, allowing the moon arose to share its glorious beauty along with the help of the specks of light.
In the middle of the night, the beauty of the moon was defeated when the proclaimed Death God Courtesan came out of the picture. Her hair was golden; eyes as purple as lavenders, gleaming with coldness and sophistication; skin as a pale porcelain doll; a posture signifying authority; and she had the name like the moon and beauty like the moon—alluring yet scarred.
She was Tsukuyo, the leader of the Hyakka and guardian of Yoshiwara.
It was a perfect moment to surveil the underground city lit by dull red lights of the clubs and bars. As like the usual, the city was full of people, trying to had some bliss tonight. It was no wonder, because of the big event tomorrow. Even though it looked so peaceful at the moment, she had to guard still and protect the hazy atmosphere. That was her sole job she ought to do.
Everything was fine, when a sudden ruckus appeared around the corner. The female ninja wasted no time and hurriedly head to the place where the commotion started.
On her way, she heard a distinctive voice, saying, "Who'da hell are yah to insult me, huh?!" After that, a loud crashing of rumbles happened next.
Tsukuyo came to place and immediately had a facepalm etched on her face when she found a familiar silver—almost gray—haired person who caused the disturbance while beating a hopeless man uselessly. She let out a sigh of exasperation and swiftly took a kunai, throwing it in an absolute accuracy towards to the forehead of the proclaimed saviour of Yoshiwara, Gintoki "Lazy-ass" Sakata.
As the kunai was stuck to his forehead, blood flowed down to his face and he fell on the ground. She went near him and pulled the kunai out. "Oi, get up and go home."
Gintoki's visions became vague, feeling a blood loss. Also, he was drunk. As soon as his sights returned to normal, he composed himself and seated on the ground, legs in a cross position. Again, he was wasted because of the alcohol.
"Really, you're useless, Gintoki."
He knew that voice. The one who can throw kunai at him. He only groaned as his response and even if the alcohol was lingering him, he stood up on his feet.
Another sigh was drawn from Tsukuyo as she watched him stood up, staggering.
"Well, if isn't Tsukki . . ." Gintoki said in a sozzled tone, following it with a hiccup.
An eyebrow was raised from her as she stayed silent.
And Gintoki, out of his mind, clung an arm around her shoulders. With a cunning, drunken smile, he trailed his fingers on her scarred cheek and made her face him. "Say, Tsukki . . . be my date tomorrow."
Tsukuyo found this as an act of flirting and she was not interested in any of his intentions. So instead of feeling very flattered, she felt disgusted rather.
"Go sit on a cactus, yah ass." she retorted irritatedly and kicked the shin of his vertebrae leg.
Gintoki automatically released her and sensed a deep pain Tsukuyo caused him. "T-That hurts, you drat woman!!"
She didn't care and took her pipe and started smoking. That guy was always getting on her nerves every time. She didn't really hate him. She just found him annoying, especially his natural perm hair. Double the annoyance whenever he was blitzed.
Then she started to walk away. She was out of business as of the moment.
"Oi! Tsukki! Wait!" the silver-haired samurai called out.
She paid no attention to him and just blew a smoke. She was only hearing Gintoki saying his pleas. Like to date him tomorrow. And without asking, he told her in a loud voice that the man whom he beat was insulting for being a hopeless romantic guy.
Tsukuyo scoffed inwardly. Like I could care less.
She had no idea why he was acting that way. Was he that desperate?
And then, oddly, she didn't hear him shouting something embarrassing again.
Without really a reason, she shifted her head to look at him one more time.
A vein popped on her cheek as she discovered the current situation of Gintoki. Due to his careless drinking, he collapsed on the cemented ground with his face flat down.
"Idiot . . ." she sighed again.
She felt a huge responsibility to help him in this current state. She could not just abandon him in this area full of unknown crowd.
She had no choice, but to assist him by lending a hand. The Hyakka leader grabbed his arm and draped it on her shoulders. She was not called as the Shinigami Tayū for nothing, and carrying a giant slob like him was an easy task.
Tsukuyo took him to the place where she, Hinowa, and Seita lived. They asked her why was she bringing him, and she answered their questions in a form of explanation.
She brought Gintoki to the guest room and dropping him in a vexed and aweary manner. Standing up, she picked a blanket and overlaid it to him.
What a drag. She thought to herself.
She was about to leave when she heard Gintoki mumbled something. "You really can't say no to me, huh, Tsukuyo?"
"You were conscious after all this time?" she clicked her tongue with a frown, "Just sleep, you're drunk."
"Nah . . ." Gintoki sat up lazily, "just tipsy."
"Whatever." the lady replied, "Then, I'll be going."
"Wait, Tsukki, don't leave yet." nagged Gintoki, "Let's play a game."
"Save that game of yours to someone who cares." said the obnoxious courtesan in a deadpan tone.
She was about to take a step outside when she felt a hand grasped her wrist. It didn't surprise her, finding out that it was Gintoki's hand.
She grumbled to herself. So persistent. Tsukuyo faced him with an annoyed face. "Can you just let me go? I've got a lot of works to do."
"Gee. Don't be such a downer, Tsukki." the silver-headed guy urged with an indifferent look. "It's Valentine's Day tomorrow . . . Ah, crap. It's already past midnight, yeah? So it's Valentine's Day today."
Tsukuyo pulled her hand and said, "Who cares about it, anyway?"
Gintoki sighed, eyeing her with lopsided brows and his lips frowned. Then he motioned his hand, signing her to sit beside him. Her gazes softened a bit as she watched the pleading (stupid) look of Gintoki.
She gave up a sigh, "Fine. Just one game." then she sat in front, across him.
A small smirk formed on his lips. Tsukuyo quickly suspected that smirk, "We are not going to drink, are we?"
"No, no, no, no, no." he shook his head vigorously. "That's the sight I least wanna see."
"Then what?"
"Just a rock-paper-scissor game. Only one match."
"You kidding?" she snapped.
"No." answered Gintoki coolly. "And if any one of us lose, choose between truth or dare." and he explained the mechanics as if he hadn't drunk a single drop of alcohol.
"Just one match?" assured the scarred beauty.
"One match."
Then Tsukuyo inhaled and exhaled, shrugging in having no choice.
In a minute, they started the game. They both balled their fists and prepared themselves for the mini fight.
Tsukuyo decided to choose paper, but on the contrary, Gintoki had a scissors gestured on his hand.
"Geh." Tsukuyo uttered in a rueful face, whilst Gintoki celebrated his triumph.
"Truth or Dare?" smirked him.
A sigh escaped out from the lips of the blonde ninja. Why did she accepted his challenge? And right on that moment, she swore to herself that she would not going to play his games anymore.
Truth or dare? Her subconscious told her. She could not choose. Both of it was troublesome.
"Dare." she said in a raspy tone.
"Dare, huh?" he mimicked. "Then . . ." Wordlessly, he grabbed Tsukuyo in a brisk move and they both lay on the floor. "Sleep with me."
He caged her with his arms—right hand on her hair, and left hand wrapped on her waist. He trapped her one leg with his.
"Jerk!!" she squealed as she managed to freed a hand and clutched Gintoki's face. And with her free leg, she kicked the wall and gained some force to escape from his grasps. "Let go of me!"
It was all useless because his grip is stronger than her force to struggle against him.
Ugh. Everything was against her will. She would like to wait until he fell in a deep sleep. That was only the way. But as for the mean time, she might liked this idea.
