I've always though of the alts as like, otherworldly companions of the mains. Or cousins I guess that works too.
I think it's funny to think of moo and Aries as having a very healthy and vanilla relationship. Meeting each other through the mains, dating, moving in together, having small fights and disagreements, etc.
While gem and pearl are actively fighting and killing each other and tiptoeing around the fact that they might.. maybe, possibly, like each other a little bit (alot) while moo and Aries are both forced to watch these two verbally edge eachother.
"oh, nah, she probably just gave me flowers because they're pretty and she's being nice" "AWH she's so sweet, she called me hot! that means so much coming from her"
