Hi there! I've been playing clarinet for about 5-6 years now and at a recent solo competition the judge told me my clarinet is just ever so slightly off center on my mouth. I've never noticed it until now. Is this something I should work on fixing?
Hi,
It’s important for your embouchure and overall sound if your clarinet is centered in your mouth. I try to practice in front of a mirror as often as I can so I can pay attention to my embouchure and finger placement. If you don’t have a mirror lying around, you can use the camera function on your smartphone or tablet as well.

Olivia blushed as she spun around in her dress. Gaius suggested that they should do a little dance together as a celebration together with their friends and she agreed to the idea but the problem was the most of the dresses were too long so she needed some help finding the perfect one. She had to thank Severa, Cordelia, Chrom and Sumia for helping her find the perfect dress for this day and needed to make sure that her future husband was wearing the proper suit, not one filled with holes or candy like his usual outfit.
She fidgeted nervously, not wanting to be seen but these were her closest friends so she should be alright with it. Gaius on the other hand was rolling around in his waiting room, complaining that he needed his daily dosage of sugar but he promised Olivia that he wouldn't. It didn't help that Frederick and Chrom were standing guard so that he couldn't even get to his stash.
When the time came, he finally got up and walked over towards the church, surprised that he got there first and waited at the altar, glancing around to see if he could find some candy to snack on before the vows but with the stern look that Libra was giving him, he sighed and had to wake it like a man and wait.
Olivia finally came and he stared at her as she walked down the aisle like an angel floating down from the heavens. Shaking his head and trying to keep his desires to himself, he smiled at her as she walked up to him and looked at Libra giving him the ok to start.
"Well now Olivia, do you take Gaius here as your lawfully wedded husband? To respect you in your successes and in your failures, to care for you in sickness and in health, to nurture you, and to grow with you throughout the seasons of life?"
"I do." She blushed, feeling embarrassed by this but still happy nonetheless.
"And you Gaius, do you take Olivia here as your lawfully wedded wife? To respect you in your successes and in your failures, to care for you in sickness and in health, to nurture you, and to grow with you throughout the seasons of life?"
"Of course I do. I-I mean, yes. I do." He coughed, not wanting to sound too greedy to get this over with and dig into the cake.
"Well now." Libra chuckled. "You two may now kiss."
Just as Gaius looked at Olivia, he caressed her face softly as if he were caring for a new born child and leaned in slowly, knowing that she both loved and hated him for this. She closed her eyes, waiting for the soft, warm lips upon hers but it never came. She felt cold.
When she opened her eyes, she was alone. In her room, Gaius' spot cold. She cried as she remembered him dying years before to protect her on their wedding night and held onto his pillow, savoring the lingering scent that was almost gone.
