i do sort of love that when you first learn about ronan in TRB, you feel bad for him. you might find him sus, but his dad died and he found the body, that's horrific, surely that's the worst thing to happen to him/that family. when adam and blue see the barns for the first time its described as this idyllic utopia, it's magical, it's warm, it's beautiful - you grew up here? - surely the lynch fam was equally as idyllic. then as the series progresses (and even into the dreamer trilogy) you learn how completely fucked the whole family history and situation really was. slowly but surely every preconceived notion you had about niall or aurora or declan or ronan or matthew is uncovered, dragged into the light. the "perfect" family ronan was desperate to get back was not perfect at all. (also declan was right the whole time)

ok but like… there’s something sooo buzzy about reading trc/tdt as a domestic gothic, especially w the lynch family?? like hennessey’s lace as something that grew out of the trauma of her parents’ marriage and just stuck to her. and declan throwing the wedding ring down the drain?? and then the doubles?? hennessey/jordan, mor/aurora… the softer versions of them...what they could’ve been if none of it happened. idk it’s just… the house is still there but something is deeply, fundamentally wrong with it.

so truly insane that niall and mor were like declan we love u so we r going to choose to forget everything abt u that we love. like declan should’ve gone more crazy over that I think. ik he had a lot going on but damn a more comprehensive breakdown over that is warranted. esp bc like wtf u mean the voluntary amnesia-ed mum then tries to live in the house where all said forgotten memories were made like nothing was wrong. and w her bf who is a dreamt younger looking version of ur dad who got his head smashed in in the driveway of said house. like there’s a lot to unpack there

the concept of dreaming being a genetic trait is so insane. like is it recessive or dominant? we can’t really learn from the lynches considering declan is the only “natural” offspring of niall (and mór who i’m 90% sure was a dreamer). like can people be dream carriers??? could declan be that (again can’t see because he marries jordan who technically doesn’t have like…dna?) hennessy and her mother. that woman in MI i believe who has literally all those dreaming children. biology nerds please drop ur opinions on this
