One soldier from Tennessee told his father that from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. every day, his only task is to walk around Chinatown. Another service member from Mississippi told a loved one that she’d been repeatedly cursed at while on patrol. During a call to his wife, a guardsman from Louisiana said there was confusion about what the military was actually doing there.

“We haven’t gotten critically low on morale, but we’re falling fast,” said one soldier who, like others quoted in this story, spoke to CNN on the condition of anonymity because they’re not authorized to speak to the media and feared reprisal.

Il bravo ragazzo si sacrifica (!)

Ho letto il post di una madre fiera del fatto che suo figlio 16enne ha finito scuola, e va a lavorare tutte le mattine alle 7 per non pesare sulla famiglia.

Ovviamente tutta la tifoseria della crescita responsabile col sacrificio, guarda questa cosa come "bravo ragazzo", "orgoglio della mamma", "hai fatto un ottimo lavoro su di lui", e stronzate varie.

Nessuno si domanda come mai un ragazzo di 16 anni pensa di pesare sulla famiglia...

E nessuno se lo chiede perché il denaro è l'unico posto dove il 90% dei terrestri mette l'attenzione.

Non sto dicendo che un qualsiasi adolescente non debba lavorare, ammesso che sia una scelta dettata da altri motivi (esperienza personale, sfizi, distacco da ambienti tossici, curiosità, gioia ecc); e nemmeno sostengo che i soldi non abbiano importanza. In questo caso però c'è un minorenne che si fa carico dell'assistenza familiare, e la sua maturità, la sua spinta a essere utile, la sua responsabilità verso problemi di sostegno economico, contano sempre meno della sua espressione individuale, soprattutto a questa età.

Non c'è proprio un cazzo d'esser fieri. Io mi sentirei una merda solo per il fatto che mio fglio si sente in dovere di sputtanare il suo tempo per fare qualcosa a cui avrebbero dovuto provvedere gli adulti di riferimento.

Questa non è crescita, è sopravvivenza elevata a valore morale.
