One of my favorite photos. I love the sun glistening off the water and the surrounding fields. , One of the many beautiful places in Northern New Mexico - this particular spot is on Route 518 about 2 miles and a quarter from the center of Mora. This is the Mora River going over some human made waterfalls that help control the river. Like many rivers, brooks and streams in New Mexico the Mora River is used to irrigate farms and ranches, often using #acequia. Acequias or séquias are community-operated watercourses that were built many years, often centuries, in the past and maintained by the communities that depend on them. These are so revered that they have been feature in political advertising.
