follow up post regarding Omen’s quote-unquote ‘friend group’ of immortals he’s learned to cope with over the years:
In order of member induction:
- Zechiel ( @draco-inter-pares, nowhere near relevant, but the blog is there.) Also known as ‘The Challenger’, Zechiel is a Lyndwurm; a type of flightless snake-like dragon with a mastery of energy / plasma. After adopting a humanoid form, he became a heroic, nomadic swordsman with the intent of raising mortals to the heights of power they dream of. Omen, having promised not to screw with his day-to-day life and introducing him to the threat of ⁂her, successfully inducted him as the Third member,
- Bunga Bunga, Orc Master of Shadows, Real Estate, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Cooking, Tax Evasion, etc. Encountered while Omen was searching for a strange and elusive product, Bunga quickly disturbed and annoyed Omen to the point of him attempting to kill Bunga. Evidently, this proved a challenge, as apparently he has 14 additional lives, 3 spare bodies, several daemonic bonds, and countless shades willing to drag him back from the realm of death due to countless nauseatingly shrewd but incredibly effective bargains with entities of numerous realms. After a quick, more proper introduction, the two grew on each other. Bunga now resides as the Treasurer and Lawyer for the group, and through excellent investments, has provided Omen’s fortune for his day-to-day shenanigans. Bunga was the Fourth member inducted.
- Shi-Ranai, a phantasm inhabiting a set of clothes, manifests as a shadowy entity within the confines of the robes. A single eye is seen between the high collar of their gown (something akin to Hsien-Ko or F.A.N.G) and their wide-brimmed hat. Tame and content to tend a distant garden until the end of time, Omen inducted them as the Fifth member.
- Kedava, once a monk having achieved nirvana and a perfect ascended state for seven years, was discovered by Omen at her mountain home not long after meeting Shi-Ranai. After being introduced to the concept of ⁂her and the futility of existence, in addition to discovering that her now perfected state of being is immortal and incapable of losing its metabolism regardless of new actions, she takes on an exaggerated, crude want of excess. Now a rampant sexual deviant, alcohol-enjoyer, and glutton; she contentedly awaits those wanting training or pleasure until such a time that she is called upon by Omen. She was the Sixth member added.
- Larrett Sang ( @sea-lycan ), the debonair captain of The Sea;s Call at the time of his induction, is a good friend to Omen and the group’s organizer; being the most tolerable in a conversation out of any of them. Omen, in truth, was swayed by the cut of Sang’s gib, and would likely have tried to invite him into The Cognizant regardless of whether he was immortal or not. Luckily, Lycan’s don’t seem to die of old age. He was the Eighth member inducted.
- Reginald P. J. KlorgenMcDonJensen, more commonly referred to as ‘Reggie’, is a horrifying insectoid creature Larry discovered in his ship’s storeroom, where he was found to eat three barrels of limes, twelve bottles of rum, and a crewmember. Infuriated, Larrett attempted to kill him, to Reggie’s general annoyance and pain; mocking the Lycan for his inability. Finding that he was far more difficult to kill than anything else he’d seen, Larry called for Omen to assist as he’d tied him up in the brig. After arriving, Reg would easily snap out of the ropes and shake his hand. After exchanging backstories and insults for thirty minutes, Omen would shake his hand again and induct him into the group as their Ninth member. He now lives with Shi-Ranai and Kedava, bumming off their stuff.
- Morcadoes, Champion of the Mortal Realm and Hero to all who would know his name, is the spirit of a mighty warrior, once sealed within the weapon of his successor as reward for his bravery in combat and outstanding feats. Unfortunately, no one considered what happens when the sword breaks or when the civilization burns down. Evidently, his soul gets tossed into the nearest tool. Omen accidentally found him at a Carpenter’s stall in the city market, sobbing for help. After paying the previous owner, Morcadoes was happy to have someone who wasn’t going to die and leave him again. Due to Keane-related accidents resulting in his hammer form being destroyed, he is currently Omen’s toaster. Morcadoes was the Tenth member inducted.
- Gowl ( @northern-nightmare ) was encountered by Omen during a trek north, as he sought a better view of the night sky to spit at. After discovering he couldn’t eat the entity, Gowl questioned why he was here. After some deliberation and passing on of information Omen would never relinquish to a sane soul, the two came to an agreement: Omen would bring meat, and Gowl would watch the sky. He was the Eleventh member inducted.
