ok so Rice has all these math classes that I REEEEEAAAAAAAAALLY wanna take but they don't pertain to my major and i wanna graduate early because i want that extra 55k but on the other hand i'm probably never going to get another chance at these classes unless i go to grad school for bioengineering (yay!) work a bit and then go back to school *gag gag cough* so fuck it let's take the math classes.

Yes when science is funded by people who know what outcomes they want and ensure those outcomes happen, it is bad science. In my opinion that IS NOT SCIENCE. That's people paying for a lie.

Real science is where you take an honest look at the evidence at hand and the answers that it gives you.  As opposed to imagining you have all of the answers first and that defines the world around you.

Sorry if I have more respect for evidential research than people who say they believe in things because somebody says so...
