i think the only way you get deku to be more careful and less reckless with himself in his hero work is telling him that you'll follow him if he dies
#he's not reckless on purpose or anything he just#doesn't think#about himself#ever#but particularly in his work#and he always nods and hears you when you tell him through a voice thick with tears that you need him to be more careful#he means to be better about it he really does#but then you say this to him and watch the color drain from his face#and you can see him like#realize#like it actually lands for the first time ever#and he still does his hero work after that of course#still gives his all and is ready to fight to the last breath#but he's better about it#more sensible#more balanced
