Give me so Percy and the twins relationship headcanons I'm in the mood to cry a lot
alright here we go!
when they were first born, percy couldn’t get enough of them. he’d always offer to hold one while molly was doing something and he would just stare at their little faces and feel so, so happy
percy would constantly blabber about how they were gonna be the best of friends and he would be the coolest big brother ever, “cooler even than bill and charlie, mummy!”
he would read them bedtime stories and tell them the stories arthur told him and he would try to do different voices and he would get so upset when they wouldn’t pay attention to him
when they first learned to talk, percy would try teaching them different words. “say percy! peeer-see! you can do it!” he wouldn’t stop smiling when george finally said his name right
because he was born in the middle of the first war, percy would shush the twins when molly and arthur hadn’t come home yet and he would rock them and try not to cry himself
when they got bigger and fred and george started pranking, he would get so upset whenever he was the butt of the joke (he usually was). he’d cry and whisper to scabbers, asking why the twins didn’t like him. bill overheard him once and made a promise to himself to never make percy feel like he wasn’t wanted in the family
he tried to not take it so seriously, but it really hurt when fred and george called him the buzzkill or the stick in the mud. he just liked rules and he didn’t like that fred and george’s pranks always hurt someone.
when he got to hogwarts, he would write letters home to arthur and molly and he would send cool little facts about hogwarts to fred and george, but they never wrote back. (he tried not to notice how bill and charlie always got a letter back)
(this one is from a fanfic if i’m honest. it’s here!) when george was homesick his first night at hogwarts, it was percy who found him sniffling to himself on the couch in the common room. percy comforted him and told him silly stories from home and pulled out the photo album he made molly send him his first year. fred came down halfway through and then so did charlie and it was a sweet little weasley brother comforting session
percy would try to watch out for fred and george while in school and they hated it. percy looked so disappointed when they got their first detention that it only made them want to get more. they never realized he just wanted them to do well
percy got more into his school work, and fred and george got more into their pranks, and percy was more often the butt of their pranks, and he raved, and they laughed, and it was the cracks starting to form
when they looked him in the pyramid in egypt, he had a panic attack. he hasn’t liked small, dark spaces since then (he slept with a light on for the first couple of weeks afterwards)
during the triwizard tournament, percy thanked merlin and every being in existence that fred and george didn’t get called. he couldn’t bare to see them get hurt in this. (when ron was part of the second task, he was so anxious and he immediately hugged him, shooting a glare towards dumbledore)
when he left that horrible night, he was mostly upset from his father’s words, but a significant part was the glares he was getting from the twins and ginny (ron was mostly dumbfounded)
percy, alone in his own apartment, would frequently look at the photo album and cry just a bit. he missed his family, but his family hated him.
when fred and george flicked potatoes in his face during christmas, it took all his energy to storm out instead of breaking down right there. he just wanted to feel accepted and he knew then he would never be again
he didn’t expect to see his family when he went to fight in the battle of hogwarts. the breath left his lungs when he first saw them and he just wanted to crumple right there. when fred accepted his apology near immediately, he wanted a hug more than a handshake, but he absolutely took the handshake
seeing fred’s body destroyed him. he was sobbing, refusing to believe what had happened. this was his little brother. he was supposed to protect him and he was dead and when they were given that hour reprieve, all he could do was cry
after the war, he tried his hardest to reach out to george. turns out, they made pretty good comforters for each other
when george made him godfather of fred ii, he cried. ( “i’ll do better with you,” he whispers to the baby, “i promise.”)
