Morgan's mother had been pregnant when she survived an attack from another shifter. She had been towards the end of pregnancy and hadn't been hurt badly enough to take the baby via c-section. Her first shift had been awful and her husband had shot her during it. Morgan was barely a week old.

This had set her dad down the path of becoming a hunter all while thinking his daughter was completely human. When Morgan was about 8, her dad started training her to work with him, promising he would let her go on a real hunt when she turned 13.

Morgan didn't want to hunt anything but it was easier to go along with what her dad wanted. When she started going through puberty, she had her first shift. When her father realized she had caught her mother's "disease", he admitted what he had done before trying to kill her. Between the training and coming into her less human abilities, Morgan was able to escape.

She was completely on her own for a few years until she happened by a group of hunters she had known through her father. They had a younger girl in a cage and they were trying to get information from her. Morgan waited until they were asleep before sneaking into the camp and taking the girl with her.

It's been just her and Lydia since.

8. how many friends does your character have?

in main verse, morgan has one, maybe two, friends? gabriel is her absolute best friend and the only reason she’s survived immortality without just losing her mind. and then she likes daniel well enough? but i wouldn’t call them close. still she’s definitely helped him get the swing of life in the 21st century. she’s had other friends over the years, but she’s kind of distanced herself from mortals after losing so many of them.

as for other people’s muses, obvs there was luc. she also has @heartfullofxfright‘s rowan lambert, who is sometimes a friend and sometimes more, but always cute. she and @elsaletitgofree were college roommates in one verse!!! and it was cute and also with liz’s muses there’s @shakinthedust‘s jeremy murphy. chesh has been gone for a while but this list wouldn’t be complete without @aviaviatori. and lastly she has @ofviolentdeath‘s brittia oakes. (and bc i love them, she also has @amongstmortals‘ penelope price and @mythsandmonsters‘ felix howell, but those are shippy.)

did i use this question as an excuse to talk about other people’s muses? absolutely. but i love all of these muses and it makes me happy that people write with morgan.

13. what does your character pretend or try to care about?

animals freak morgan out for the most part??? but she tries not to. acknowledge it to people who have pets?? bc she knows it’s a weird thing. and in a verse or two she’s managed to move past it and have a pet but most of the time she just. does not understand.

Sometimes I think about how much Morgan has opened up as I’ve written her? She started off a lot more guarded and reserved, but she has so much love to give and she’s so much more willing to give it now than she was four years ago? Which is honestly amazing considering that she’s lost almost every significant relationship she’s had since I started. That broke Gabriel for age, but it’s only made Morgan stronger and more willing to love and I dunno I’m just feeling a lot of things.

Morgan absolutely did not want to be immortal, not even a little bit, so she doesn’t celebrate her birthdays anymore. She still keeps track of her age, although not intentionally. But she can’t seem to forget how many years she’s lived through.

For the most part, she ignores the day, but her 100th and 200th birthdays were rough and she was pretty much a train wreck the whole week.

so the other day i was thinking about revamping the angels and making them... well, not angels. and i had some ideas and stuff but the big issue was morgan?? bc she could stay largely the same, but either she’d become mortal and that changes her in weird ways. she’s far less badass without 200ish years of learning under her belt. but if everyone else becomes mortal she sort of... breaks? gabriel has held her together more than i think anyone realizes. he’s not the world’s most reliable friend but he’s kept her from being alone and that was good. she needed that.

there’s no point to this tbh bc i’m not making any changes any time soon but it was just. a strange thought.
