hii! for the asks, 1,12 & 14 (same as you, not sure if already asked!) 🫶🏼
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 ask game.
1. what’s your favorite part of the map .ᐣ what town do you like the most, where do you spend most of your time .ᐣ what do you enjoy about the scenery .ᐣ
The lavender and wildflower fields in Big Valley and Grizzlies East totally have my heart. They're peaceful, idyllic pockets of landscape for Arthur to take a clean breath between the violence and chaos that typifies his life otherwise.
I think Strawberry is probably my favorite town to take Arthur for some r&r. it's such a pretty area and a prime place to rest when I'm grinding for pelts. I'm amused by the idea of Arthur being amused by city folk going "glam-ping" there and it still somehow being too rustic an experience for them.
And of course, I love that you can find my girl Elsie Rose's cigarette card in the hotel upstairs 😊
12. do you have a favorite dish to feed arthur .ᐣ do you feed and bathe him regularly .ᐣ does he maintain his weight .ᐣ do you visit the saloons and order food or do you eat whatever is available in your satchel .ᐣ do you stop at the campfires to cook, do you use herbs .ᐣ
I make maintaining that boah's weight a full time job!! I admit the very first time I played through the game I had no idea that was a thing and had my poor, skinny Arthur running all over the map in a severe calorie deficit 😭 I like leaning into the realism of what choices I think Arthur would make during the day; a cigarette first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee; eating breakfast on the road from something in his satchel; meals in saloons if I'm passing through town, but otherwise it's fire-roasted game (herbs pending); if he's at camp, knocking back a bowl of Pearson's stew before having a drink around the fire and putting him to bed.
14. which side character do you think is undervalued and not as appreciated .ᐣ what do you think is something about them that gets overlooked .ᐣ
I adore Tilly and I wish we could have enjoyed more missions with her - or that the missions we do have with her, she could have had more to do. There's the one with Bill where she tells him all about himself, which I enjoy, but that's about all she can do before he and Arthur literally leave her in the dust to chase after the runaway carriage. And of course there's the time where Arthur and Grimshaw team up to rescue her, but even though she has moments of empowerment and we're given a bit more of her backstory, I feel like Grimshaw's emotional reaction becomes the centerpiece of that story which is...a choice! (Like we're meant to be endeared by Grimshaw, who we hear verbally abusing Tilly and the girls on the daily, because she's Actually Super Caring and Protective of Them, and all it took was a mission where the only Black girl in camp gets kidnapped, tied up, and beaten for it to reveal itself).
My KINGDOM for a low-stakes carriage robbery mission where Arthur, John and Tilly could have been the Siblings of All Time and given us a peek into their dynamic.
