Fic trope: marriage of convenience
YESSSSSSSSSS OH MY GODDDDDDDDDD…
absolutely one of my favorite fic tropes of all time. I would count arranged marriages in the same category. it’s the best because I love shit about SECRET FEELINGS and not realizing the other person feels the same way and is also having SECRET FEELINGS while possibly pretending to be in love BUT IT’S NOT REALLY PRETENDING and of course there’s all this tension because of living together and cute domestic stuff and basically it combines everything I love because in case anyone was unaware I am all about FEELINGS and actually I think one of my lj tags “fictional mark zuckerberg’s secret feelings” is a result of me talking to HK about “never marry for money,” which is of course one of my favorite “fake” marriage fics everrrrrrr
and that’s why this trope is so great, because it’s a really great relationship exploration, either of characters who just met OR have a past, maybe they hate each other or one has been in love with the other one and!!!!!! oh man, the possibilities are endless. I just love it.
since all I’ve been able to think of the last few days is ASOIAF/GoT, this reminds me that last night I sent ionsquare a DM on twitter about how I really want a Jaime/Brienne arranged marriage AU liiiiiiike y’all don’t even KNOW, I just ughghghaklhdalkfj can’t even talk about it…
