Mori Kei Sewing - Make 9 2018
I've been going through my stash & collecting Mori-able sewing patterns lately... So I decided to get in on Make 9 - 2018. My goal is also not to buy any new fabric to make them... Only things I already have or thrifted fabric.
I've already started by making a wearable muslin of Tina Givens Madeline Slip.
Yesterday, I also made a wearable muslin of the Dottie Angel frock too. Simplicity 1080.
I'm looking forward to trying the Madeline crop top and the Tina Givens Annabelle slip for more base layering pieces.
Another base dress pattern that looks like a hospital gown on the illustration is Butterick 6601 from 2001. Bad fabric choices... But with a soft floaty voile or reused vintage table linens, I think view C would be good for layering.
I also like jumpers for layering and have thrifted a couple of vintage jumper patterns from different eras.
Simplicity 7177 from 1991 is a basic loose jumper dress in view 1. If I get brave, I think view three of the jumpsuit with the poufy cuffed pant is Mori-able with the right fabric choice and other layers.
McCalls 3273 is a more fitted jumper from 1972. I think this one has a bit of Dolly Kei potential too.
Another pattern with Mori &Dolly Kei potential is this vintage Vogue vest pattern 7156. Undated, but my best guess is mid 1980s. I want to make view a or d with tapestry fabric.
Finishing with a couple of fancy dresses or more stand alone pieces... Vintage 1995 McCalls 7913 in the shorter length reminds me of this cute mustard yellow corduroy dress from TaoBao that shows up in my Pinterest suggestions all the time.
Finally this 2017 Cynthia Rowley Simplicity pattern D0752 is adorable. I love all the pintucks and soft ruffles.
So those are my Make 9 patterns for 2018 to build up my Mori/Dolly Kei wardrobe and use up some stash fabrics.
