A conversation with my siblings but make it Fëanorians:
Celegorm: Cide means to kill, right?
Curufin: Pretty much.
Celegorm: Regicide… Patricide… What do you call killing your brother?
Caranthir: Pesticide

Daughters of the House of Fëanor
AKA: The madwomen who decided to marry Fëanor’s sons 😂 Basic intros, family dynamics, and what happens to them below!
(Left to Right) Lahtallë - Wife of Curufin. The kind of person who won’t leave something alone until she’s perfected it. Very strong and incredibly skilled at fine detail jewellery. Where Celebrimbor got his love of silver from. Generally quiet but with a backbone of steel and glare to match. Good at reading people with a sharp wit to match.
Ristarë - Wife of Maglor. I talked about her here but here’s more. Half Telerin, half Noldo, leans heavily towards the Noldo in personality, but Telerin in her style and love for the ocean. Grew up by the shores. Affectionately called Fëanor’s fourth child since she got engaged to Maglor before Caranthir was born and was known to the people before him. Specialises in crafting instruments and hunting ware from shore side materials. Stubborn and unapologetic, but compassionate.
Nyarmë - Wife of Caranthir. A total ray of sunshine who makes everyone wonder *why* she married the grumpiest of Finwë’s household. Don’t let that bright laugh fool you, she’s got a ruthlessness and incredibly sharp wit that shows just how she ended up part of the Fëanorian’s household. Lore master and poet who can pull out the most random information in seconds.
Dynamics between each other and Fëanor:
Ristarë got engaged to Maglor before Caranthir was born, and married to him a while before Curufin was. She’s very much part of the family (especially considering more than half the kids don’t remember a time without her.)
Lahtallë and Nyarmë are best friends since childhood to everyone’s confusion. They ended up meeting their respective Fëanorion at completely different times though and were shocked to realise the other was being courted.
Ristarë is very much their big sister and they love poking fun at her. She gives as good as she gets though, and is a big help in getting them used to the rather large family. (Tbh she’s everyone but Maedhros’ big sister and they love her dearly)
All three are very loyal to Fëanor and follow him into the Kinslaying and to Beleriand as their king.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the idea that they stayed with Nerdanel because look.
You don’t just. Marry into the house of Fëanor. Especially at the times they did when there was so much drama already going on.
These girls knew exactly what they were getting into, and have sharp minds, skills, and most importantly, a slightly concerning passion and loyalty to the Fëanorian faction that lets them fit right in.
Not to say they’re quiet or compliant. They’re right in the middle of the snark and banter, and call out their husbands/brothers/father in law when necessary.
It’s part of the screening process. If you can’t stand your ground, there’s no way you’re surviving this madhouse. And I mean the whole Finwëan family, not just the Fëanorians.
Safe to say the other sons genuinely adore their sisters in law and easily bring them into the family.
Anyway.
Because Fëanor didn’t have any daughters, and very genuinely considered them as close to him as his sons. He made them jewellery, made sure to spend time with them and get to know them properly. He essentially becomes another father figure to them outside of their own families.
He trusts them with his secrets, his ideas, literally just like his sons.
Lahtallë and Nyarmë were born to Fëanorian followers. Ristarë’s father was a Noldo of Tirion who generally followed Finwë rather than any of his sons, but with her personality, it wasn’t even a question as to if she’d follow Fëanor.
Eventual Fates:
Ristarë is killed in the Bragollach while evacuating the residents of the Gap.
Lahtallë ends up in Himring in the chaos of escaping the Bragollach, then is killed in the Second Kinslaying.
Nyarmë survives. Lives in Eregion and survives the Sack. Ends up hanging out with Elrond in Rivendell and whacks Maglor around the head when they finally find him. She gets to go to Valinor at the beginning of the Fourth Age with him.
(Ristarë and Lahtallë both come out with Celebrimbor.)
But just so you get an idea of what these women were like, all three would’ve gone along to all the kinslayings, just like Nyarmë did.
So why aren’t they mentioned in history?
Essentially, the boys wanted to give them a chance to move on and live without the additional scrutiny
There was every chance they’d go to the void and never come back (though that’s not what happened) and they wanted to let the three women live an actual life without being so closely affiliated with the House of Fëanor
If they avoided the right people, changed how they dressed. They could easily start anew.
Now the women do understand this. Even if they don’t like it, they get why.
But when the boys come out of Mandos, they all get whacks around the head.
