In the family tree of Hanna Davydchenko there have been people distinguished themselves in art, diplomatic and army service. One of the brightest character among them is Major-General count Irakly Ivanovich Morkov (1753 - †1829). He was also known as comte Hercules Morcoff as it signed in this portrait by Jaques Lampi. Count spent most of his life in wars. He have been a companion-in-arms of such Russian Army commanders as Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov and Field marshal Mikhail Kutuzov. He bravely distinguished himself in Russian-Turkey wars especially during siege of very well fortified Turkish strongholds Ohakov and Ismail where he distinguished himself so bravely that General-in-chief Alexander Suvorov awarded him golden sword with engraved words "For bravery". He referred him as the "most brave and invincible officer". In April 1798, in the reign of the emperor Paul the 1st, he was promoted to the rank of Major-General and assigned to Caucuses inspection and chief of Caucuses Grenadier regiment. After Russian-Turkey peace treaty had been signed, he was honored to present the peace treaty report to the Russian impress Catherine the Great. In August 1812 during Napoleonic war he was elected by the Moscow nobility to command Moscow Militia Army. He commanded the army during most important battles against French army especially in Borodino, Maloyaroslavets and Vyazma. He was decorated with Order of prince Alexander Nevsky. In the history of art this great warrior and great-great-great-great-grandfather of artist Hanna #Davydchenko remained known in history as an owner of an artist Vasily Tropinin. This artist very gifted realistic portraitist. He portraid great number of known persons of his time including great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
