I’ve been so busy with building lots for my MCC over at @ts2mortalswar, I haven’t spent much time playing with my Mernoc ‘hood. But when I saw the gor-geous new accessories created by @esotheria-sims and Maya and @cupcakeyysims, I knew I had to slap them on a Morleigh, stat’!
Victor doing what he does best... growl in rage at every small thing not going his way.
“Who took my book?It was right there on the third shelf!”
Note: I’m a big fan of @pineapple5050‘s mod, which does this gorgeous blur effect, but I’m still figuring it out! Sorry for the mix of blurry/crisp images!
The Morleighs rule Mernoc. They have a reputation for insolent wealth as well as a luxurious, decadent lifestyle. Lovers of the arts, they are patrons to many artists and traders. They recently funded the construction of the Mernoc Opera, and subsidized the establishment of a few restaurants (but somehow never had the funds to build a soup kitchen...). For anyone wishing to be anyone in Mernoc, it is vital to keep this family on their good side.
Among the merchant and worker class, they are both feared and hated, especially for their imposition of exorbitant taxes. Unfortunately, someone has to fund that lavish lifestyle!
They are also criticized by a religious fringe of the population, especially the Lovelace family, for their complete absence of faith. They have never been spotted at St-Mary-of-the-Waters, Mernoc’s small church, and have constantly failed to contribute to its upkeep.
Whatever their faults, critics must admit that the Morleighs have ambition and vision, and that they helped to shape a little marshland hub into a prosperous city.
Victor Morleigh (A, knowledge, lawful evil, luck 6): Victor’s life is a series of lucky breaks. His father, a successful furniture merchant, bought up a substantial amount of land in the area which was then known as the ‘Mernoc Marshes’. This land was quickly rehabilitated, and Victor is currently the owner of some profitable properties. He also rose through the ranks of the Politics career, and is now officially mayor of Mernoc. All decisions concerning the city and its development must pass by him. He completely rejects the fact that he came from a family of traders, and longs to one day obtain a title and become a “lord”.
Madeline Morleigh (A, popularity, lawful evil, luck 5): Madeline is the undisputed queen of the Mernoc social scene, and the social climbers dream of being invited to one of her famous parties. She can be ruthless to anyone who challenges her family’s authority. Ruling over Mernoc’s social life doesn’t leave much time for child-rearing, and Madeline has no qualms about handing them over to the nurse once she’s done posing with them.
Esmée Morleigh (T, pleasure, chaotic neutral, luck 1/1): since her childhood, Esmée has been a little disturbed, prone to violent fits and mood swings, claiming that loud voices were waking her up from her sleep. She is being treated by the Mernoc doctor, Irwin Gainsbourg, and is currently feeling much better, even though Mernoc’s sorely lacks a mental health professional. Although still a teen, she is widely recognized as a promising, talented artist, and has sold a few masterpieces.
Béatrice Morleigh (C, growing up, neutral good, luck 2): Béatrice suffers from ‘second-child-syndrome’: stuck between the much-admired Esmée and the male heir to the Morleigh fortune, she has been widely ignored by her family and the high society of Mernoc. With a deep attraction towards nature and the outdoors, the growing urbanization of Mernoc has her feeling trapped and out of place.
Edmond Morleigh (C, growing up, lawful good, luck 5): the much-awaited male heir of the Morleigh fortune, Edmond has been spoiled and coddled since his birth. While he also has his father’s ambition, and wants to get involved in politics, he dreams of making Mernoc a fairer place.
Nathan Morleigh (T, growing up, lawful evil, luck 2): the proverbial ‘spare’, Nathan is still too young to understand politics, or to have any concrete dreams about the future. His nurse has noted, however, a worrying tendency to destroy his teddy-bears, and hopes this doesn’t translate into a violent nature.
* not pictured: a NPC who was kidnapped... coughcough... hired on as a maid/nurse/providential housekeeper. She makes the household run smoothly, but the typically snobbish Morleighs would never consider taking a picture with her.
