Tobias is finally included in morph count for the first time since book 1. Welcome back, buddy!
And unless I missed something (always possible tbh), Ax didn’t morph at all this book, which is a first for any of the Animorphs. Guess he had to give his morph rations to Tobias for this one.

Ax talks about a time he wasn’t paying attention in school: 5
Book 17, the one where they all turn into moles. Because that's definitely the thing this book is most famous for. Whatever, it's what I'm going to talk about.
We know the team morphs moles many, many times in this book. But how many times? It's not clear. So, I've counted only the times that we for sure know they morphed a mole. Did they all morph moles more than this? Probably. But this is what we can confirm, so this is what's getting counted.
Now I want to talk about something else. Don't read this paragraph if you don't want spoilers for the rest of the series. So. Now that all the spoiler-free people have left. Do you remember that book where Marco gets rabies but then it turns out that morphing cures rabies? Yeah, of course you do. How could you forget something like that. Anyways. So that's definitely in play in this book, right? Actually, if you don't like thinking about bat poop, you should probably not read this paragraph either, because--The animorphs are literally rolling around in bat shit for several paragraphs. Rachel talks about it a lot. And I think that's an activity that's probably really bad for your health. Actually, I googled it and breathing in spores from bat shit can be really hazardous. So morphing is definitely saving their lives here too. In fact, I have a theory that the animorphs are constantly getting diseases from handling wild animals, but the only reason they don't get sick is because they're morphing almost every day. The only one who might not be getting sick is Cassie because she at least has the rabies vaccine, but I don't think they make a vaccine for inhaling bat shit spores. Anyways. Makes you think.
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

We have some more unidentified morphs in this book. It happens during the scene where all the human Animorphs morph bugs in order to eavesdrop on the Andalite bridge. We know that Cassie morphed a flea, but the rest are just described as “flies and cockroaches no one had noticed.” The plurals tell us there were at least two of each insect: either three flies and two cockroaches or three cockroaches and two flies. And, because I have been keeping careful track, we know that Tobias doesn’t have a cockroach morph; therefore, he must have been one of the flies! But we don’t get any more information than that, so I’ve counted two flies and two cockroaches in the “Unidentified Animorph” section. Do I know it was two of each and not one fly and three cockroaches? Not really. But such is the way of morph count, sometimes.

Morph count rules:
New morphs acquired by the Animorphs in the current book are in bold. (I’m not marking new morphs for other characters.)
Morphs that aren’t accessible anymore (due to any reason including but not limited to time travel, nothlitism, or morph allergies) are struck through.
Fully in or fully out, otherwise it doesn’t count: If a morpher only goes partway into or out of morph, it doesn’t count for our purposes.

Okay, I won't lie, I read this book months ago but never posted the morph count because formatting all the bullet points was intimidating me. Sorry.
In other news, Ax has now morphed human 30 times, the first morph to enter its 30s and in the lead by a wide margin. In second place is Rachel's bald eagle morph, which has been morphed 18 times. Jake's tiger comes in at a close third, with 17 times morphed so far.
It's been a minute, so a quick refresher of how this works:
New morphs acquired in the current book are in bold
Morphs that aren't accessible anymore (due to any reason including but not limited to time travel, nothlitism, or morph allergies) are struck through.
Fully in or fully out, otherwise it doesn't count: If a morpher only goes partway into or out of morph, it doesn't count for our purposes.
That's it, hope you enjoy this installment of morph count!

Morph count has returned from the war! I thought I miscounted the morphs from this book and it took me several weeks (months) to circle back to double-check. But today I found myself on a long train ride with nothing better to do, so here you have it, the Definitely Accurate Book 14 Morph Count.
This book is silly! I love it. I think Marco should wield rattlesnake-Ax as a whip more often. Also there should be more dark rides.
I counted Ax’s human morph at 4 because he’s apparently present in the final scene in the barn, and he usually morphs human for that in this era. (Sometimes, educated guesses must be made in morph count.)
I’ve also added prev and next links to each morph count post for those of you who want to study the count book-by-book. Do these work?? Please tell me they do.

Things begin to get complicated already in book 2. Rachel does the “morph only partway” trick a few times; first partway into an elephant and then partway out of the Fluffer morph. But for the sake of this tally, I won’t be counting partial morphs. All the way in or all the way out, otherwise it doesn’t count!
We also get our first complications of vaguely alluded to morphs. When Rachel and Tobias fly to the bell tower, it’s heavily implied that the other Animorphs flew too, but not stated outright except for Cassie. In this case, I’ve decided it’s safe to assume they all morphed birds of prey.
I also find it interesting that Cassie says Rachel has the most morphs of all of them. That isn’t quite true—at the time, she was tied with Jake with four morphs each (Jake’s dog, green anole, tiger, and peregrine falcon vs. Rachel’s elephant, bald eagle, shrew, and cat.) By the end of the book, Jake takes the lead with five possible morphs total.
Also, for the sake of your dashes, going forward I’ll just include the current book’s count in the main post. The ongoing tally of all the books so far will be below a cut (because it’s going to get looong).
Lastly, going forward, any morphs from the six Animorphs that are acquired/used for the first time in the current book will be bold. Older morphs will not be bold.
On to the count!

Below, I’ve introduced the strikethrough. Any time a morph becomes inaccessible for any reason (nothlitism, sario rips, etc.), it’ll still be counted but struck through to indicate it can’t be morphed anymore.
