The words escape Daisy in a whisper before she could stop them causing Bobbi to freeze for a moment before looking over at her.
Daisy runs a hand through her hair.
“Nothing I do is ever good enough, isn’t the right thing even though it does turn out to be the right thing and I even get blamed for things I didn’t do even they happened to me,” confesses Daisy.
Bobbi knew who’s the most responsible for Daisy feeling this way and it leaves an awful taste in her mouth.
Ever since she’s returned to Shield, she’s noticed things have changed.
Not for the better either.
She knows nothing she’ll say will help Daisy right now.
Moving over to their bed, she sits down next to Daisy then pulls her to her in a tight embrace.
Daisy curls up in her lap instinctively.
There aren’t any tears; Bobbi’s not surprised because this is a process but they will come – later but they will come and she’ll be there for Daisy.
24. “It’s six o’clock in the morning, you’re not having vodka.” Daisy x Bobbi
“It’s six o’clock in the morning, you’re not havingvodka.”
Daisy raises her right hand then gives Bobbi the birdbecause she’s not in the mood to deal with the other woman. The latest missionwent to hell in a handbasket and she hasn’t been back at the base for verylong.
Seeing the gesture, Bobbi frowns then crosses the room.
“Come on, Dais. This isn’t healthy for you and you knowit,” she states firmly.
Rolling her eyes, Daisy takes a sip of her glass.
“Yeah, well who asked you,” Daisy replies.
“I’m your friend and I’m concerned about you, that’swhat’s what.”
Bobbi pulls up a chair next to Daisy and looks at her, taking in the hunched shoulders and tired expression on her face. It sucks tosee one of the people she cares about look like this and knowing that there’snothing she can do to make it easier for Daisy except to be here for her.
Looking into the glass, Daisy tries to ignore herfriend’s presence.
Of course, she knows that Bobbi’s right but God, thisreally sucks that she can’t shake off the mission like usual.
Bobbi takes the glass and bottle away from Daisy easilybecause she’s really not in the mood to fight. Then she stands up from herchair.
“So, what do you suggest, Ms. Genius?” asks Daisy.
“Come with me and I’ll show you,” Bobbi answers as she holdsout a hand to Daisy.
Daisy looks between Bobbi and her hand a couple timesbefore taking the offered hand and stands up as well. She hopes Bobbi has some decentidea because she hates feeling this way and she really doesn’t want to bringdown the base with her powers.
Tugging on Daisy’s hand, Bobbi leads them out of thekitchen and back to her room.
“You need to sleep but it won’t do any good for you tosleep alone so the alternative is for you to sleep with me—I mean, sleep in mybed next to me,” says Bobbi, rubbing her free hand against the back of herneck.
Daisy raises an eyebrow and smirks.
“Damn. The first one would have definitely helped takemy mind off of what happened.”
Shaking her head, Bobbi tries to hide her smile becauseshe’d really like to do that but not when Daisy isn’t okay.
“Well, if you play your cards right and behave….”
At Bobbi’s response, Daisy’s eyes widen because shehadn’t been expecting that.
They reach Bobbi’s room and it doesn’t take them long toprepare for bed because Bobbi already wearing what she considers pajamas andDaisy changed into something comfortable when she got back to the base.
“You don’t have to do this, Bobbi. I know you were upall-night helping Simmons in the lab,” comments Daisy.
Bobbi sits next to her on the edge of the bed thenbrushes some hair out of her face.
“I know that I don’t have to, I want to.”
Ducking her head, Daisy tries to hide her blush becauseonly Bobbi gives her these warm and tingling feelings and she’s not sure how tohandle them.
“Come on, let’s get some sleep before May comes afterus for training.”
Daisy snorts.
Bobbi definitely has her mentor’s number when it comesto training.
Letting out a yawn, Daisy climbs under the blankets andmakes herself comfortable on the left side of the bed on her back; then shesmiles at Bobbi who’s laying on her side to look at Daisy.
For her entire life, the bird on her wrist has been a source of comfort to Daisy though she hasn’t always known what it meant.
The nuns at the orphanage had mixed feelings about it.
On one hand, it meant she has a soulmate out there in the world somewhere so she couldn’t be a completely lost cause.
However, when the other shoe dropped, they didn’t like what it could mean about her soulmate.
What kind of man could be represented by a delicate bird?
It doesn’t take Daisy long to learn to ignore them.
Whenever she touched her soul mark, it felt warm and comforting so it couldn’t mean that her soulmate, whoever they were, could be bad.
She didn’t think her soulmate’s gender could be limited to male.
Though, she never told the nuns that.
As a child, whenever she saw a dandelion, Daisy blew on them and wished her soulmate would show up soon.
The last place Daisy expects to meet her soulmate is in an underground base when she’s going by a name she chose for herself, before she reclaimed the name stolen from her.
At first, Daisy doesn’t give much thought to Bobbi’s codename, Mockingbird.
After all, the woman’s ex-husband is around and Jemma’s obvious hero-worship turned crush is pretty obvious to everyone.
Then again, Daisy thinks that there’s something between Jemma and Trip too.
It’s all a mess and one she’s happy to stay out of, for the most part because she’ll support her friends as much as she’s able to.
They’ve given her so much, it’s the least she can do.
Then one day, Daisy goes out on an extended mission with Bobbi, that requires them to share a hotel room; which wouldn’t be so bad but there’s only one bed.
“Hey, it could be worse, you know. You could be stuck with Hunter.”
Daisy pretends to shudder at the thought.
As fun and entertaining he is, not to mention a great drinking partner...his comments about Bobbi before she showed up leave much to be desired.
“Well, when you put it that way…I definitely came out on top.”
Bobbi laughs, tossing her head back as her hair moves gently and it causes Daisy to pause as she takes the blonde woman in.
Shaking her head, she decides it’s time to prepare to go to bed.
By now, Daisy has perfected her night time routine – done with her shower and other needs quick as can be so Bobbi can use the restroom.
Apparently, Bobbi is the same way as Daisy doesn’t hear her come out.
“Hey, is that a soulmate mark?” asks Bobbi after catching sight of the bird on Daisy’s wrist as it’s not covered up by make up now.
Daisy bites her lip but nods her head.
“Yeah, I’ve had it my whole life.”
Bobbi smiles gently then rolls up the sleeve of her hoodie to reveal her own mark.
It’s an image of a flower.
“According to my parents, it appeared when I was about four years old,” comments Bobbi.
“Really? Do you mind if I….” she trails off, knowing her question would breach soulmate etiquette.
“Nah, it’s cool, we’re friends. I’ve never met my soulmate though,” Bobbi looks between her mark and Daisy then at Daisy’s mark, “maybe I’ve missed the obvious since I haven’t really thought about it in ages.”
It takes Daisy a few seconds before she suddenly steps forward to get a closer look.
The tattoo could be mistaken for a carnation but the moment Daisy’s own tattoo got near Bobbi’s, they both started to glow a gentle cerulean blue.
“Would you look at that, we’re soulmates. I can’t imagine anyone better to be my soulmate,” comments Bobbi.
Daisy looks up at her in awe.
“Bobbi….”
“I meant what I said, you’re a Rockstar but now, you’re my Rockstar; that is, if you want to be.”
Bobbi’s hands play with the hem of her hoodie.
It strikes Daisy as this is this is the first time she’s seen the normally confidant woman nervous and it’s kind of cute.
She moves close to Bobbi then takes her hand in her own.
“There’s nothing that I want more. My soul mark has been my one comfort since the first moment I learned what it meant.”
Smiling brightly, Bobbi uses her free hand to stroke Daisy’s cheek gently.
Then they move at the same time to kiss the other woman.
“Mmm…I could get used to this,” comments Daisy a few moments later.
“Same here. I’d hate to break up the fun but we do have a mission to complete tomorrow though this is definitely not the end of this by far,” replies Bobbi.
Daisy knows Bobbi is right so she doesn’t fight when her soulmate leads her over to the bed.
Curling up with her bird, Daisy feels content in a while she never thought possible.
The closest she’s come is joining Coulson’s team.
Though, she found that to be lacking in comparison to what she’s feeling right now.
“How do you think the team will react when they find out?” asked Daisy.
“They’ll be supportive because they just want the both of us to be happy, even Lance,” replied Bobbi.
Daisy looks at her at the mention of her ex.
“We’ve had time to talk, really talk about a lot of things and we’ve agreed we’re better off friends. Though, I think he’ll be jealous that I’m your soul mate cause you’re hot.”
She laughs, glad to know she doesn’t have to worry about Lance.
“As for Jemma and Trip, they’ll be happy for us. Besides,” Bobbi smirks at Daisy, “I’ll bet they’re soulmates themselves so they’ll get it.”
“Yes! I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who sees something between them. I never quite bought Jemma’s arguments that they’re just friends,” states Daisy with a grin.
A couple minutes later, Daisy decides to ask a question.
“So, are Mack and Hunter gonna want to have a talk with me when they find when we get back?”
Bobbi smiles.
“As much as I’m going to be talked to by May and Coulson.”
Daisy considers her words then nods because they’ll definitely want to talk to Bobbi especially Coulson especially after everything that’s happened lately between the team and Bobbi & Mack.
Still, she’s glad they’ve all moved passed it.
Yawning, Daisy snuggles close to Bobbi and wraps her arm around the woman’s waist then smiles when she feels Bobbi kiss the top of her head.
“Goodnight Bobbi. I’m really glad that we’ve found each other.”
“You took the words right out of my mouth and I want you to know you’ll never be alone again.”
They share a gentle kiss before letting themselves fall asleep.
Daisy never thought she’d find her soulmate the way that she did but she’s very happy that she did.
morsecode + Why won’t you ever just let me all the way in?
“Why won’t you ever justlet me all the way in?
Daisy hadn’t beenexpecting the question so she froze where she was laying on the bed with herhead on Bobbi’s thigh.
“Bobbi….”
“I’m serious, Daisy. Youseem to be holding back since we got together. When we were just friends, youseemed more open.”
Her mind flashed back towhen she teased Hunter and Bobbi, laughed at their antics and rolled her eyeswith Mack at the general drama. Not to mention, training with Bobbi when theygrew closer and she started to develop feelings for her. Though, Daisy neverthought she had a chance between Hunter’s history/renewed interest and Simmons’hero worship.
Then a specific memoryflew to the front of her mind – the feel of the strange cocoon materialencasing her as she watched Trip turn to stone.
“You’re right, I supposeI haven’t been giving you as much of me as you’ve given yourself to me.”
Bobbi couldn’t helprunning her hand through Daisy’s hair to soothe her because Bobbi grewconcerned about her tone of voice.
“Trip…..he was the firstperson I’ve lost that I’ve really cared about. If we had gotten a chance, itcould have been love.”
Daisy hesitantly lookedup at Bobbi when she felt her hand stop moving.
A few moments passed whereneither of them spoke.
“You’re afraid thatbecause he died trying to save you, that being with you increases the chancesof me dying on you.”
Count on Bobbi to get tothe heart of the issue.
“Bobbi, I love you but Idon’t—I can’t lose you.”
“Do you think I want tolose you either? Our line of work is dangerous but I don’t see us stepping downfrom it either.”
Daisy sighed as she knewher girlfriend had a point.
“I’ll try to work onletting you in more. It’s not going to be easy but you’re worth the effort.”
Bobbi smiled down ather.
“That’s all I can askfor.”
Daisy closed her eyes asBobbi started running her hands through Daisy’s hair again as she picked up thebook she had been reading earlier.
In that moment, Daisydecided that moments like this were worth the risk of losing Bobbi one day.
Daisy knew that she wasloved and that she could love someone like this.

From my Morsecode Medieval AU (except this has neither of them - have a little Lance/Raina interaction)
Life as Queen of Lai Shi wasn’t quite what Raina had expected but she was going to make it work because she finally became what she was meant to be. Her subjects would learn to accept her rule and love her as their queen.
She had started redecorating the castle: first with the throne room then her personal rooms followed by other rooms she didn’t like the aesthetic of.
Though, she had to give it to the previous rulers….they knew how to pick out a comfortable throne.
Looking around the throne room, Raina nodded her head.
She thought that it looked much better now that there were flowers spread all around the room.
Then she focused on the man seated on the throne next to her.
“So Lance what do you think about the flowers? They certainly perk up the room, don’t you think?”
“They’re alright, I guess. Bobbi never really cared about flowers.”
Raina resist the desire to roll her eyes at the mention of the knight.
Turning away from Lance, she arranged a few flowers that were in the bouquet on the table near her throne because a couple of them were out of place.
Flowers just made everything better and were the only things in existence that were as lovely as she was.
