"Thank you, dear lady..." David replied easily, smiling at the young girl who had brought him his dinner for the evening. He had thought of going home, but something about going home to Talbot Manor, an empty building, after spending so much time alone already during the day, he liked to have his dinner among other people. Even if none of them were there to speak with him. The conversations around him helped to sooth his lonliness. He cut into his food, taking the first bite and closing his eyes to savor all the different herbs and spices when he felt it.
He smiled, eyes still closed. He continued to chew his food and swallow it down before opening his eyes to gaze across the table at the blond who was sitting in the seat which had, only moments before, been vacant. "Good evening, Lestat," he stated softly, almost fondly. How many times had they played this game? This back and forth? Lestat and him, him and Lestat. For years. Since Lestat had first made contact after that business with Akasha. He smiled pleasantly. He'd grown quite fond of the vampire sitting across from him, looked forward to these surprise visits, though just once he wished Lestat would call ahead and make an appointment sometimes.
But tonight it was good. It was only the two of them here in this little outdoor cafe. "Shall I order something for you? To pretend?" he asked teasingly, watching the other male easily. He knew he should be terrified of this being which sat across from him, but Lestat's presence always thrilled him. Bringing back a sense of adventure as he'd had in his youth. The danger was exhilerating. "It's been a while, Lestat... almost three weeks this time... what have you been in to?"
