Moscardón Caza Abejas!

A pretty feisty, and parasitic type of robber fly! Mallaphora Ruficauda!

Not only do these guys have a mean bite, but as larva, they parasitze other species of grubs, and when theyre all grown up, they hunt bees and the like!

This was a very rowdy fella, didnt want to stay put!  Quite a variety of colored fluffs! Between the black and yellow tufts to disguise as a bee, the orange hair on its abdomen and the white tufts on its legs, specially its hind legs!

They dress like bees in order to avoid predators who identify bumblebees as dangerous for their stingers. This guy looks like it could have a stinger on its back, but its all part of the act!

I think my jar had some old cobwebs in it, which meant the robberfly would get a bit stuck at times. It did mean I was able to get some good angles for photos tho!
