Some permian fellas
Ark: Best Harvesters Part 1 This is more for my sake in case I forget, but I’m going to make a quick list of my favorite harvesting dinos so far and why. I may make a part two once I get the last few harvesters I need for more obscure resources. 1. Argentavis (Hide, Meat, Transport) This. Is. Essential. And most ark players already know why I'm sure. While every flier has definite pros and cons, an argent can carry way more than the others, and most importantly, can pick up an anklyo and anything smaller (as far as I know). This makes it perfect for moving lighter harvester dinos quickly and safely from point A to point B. In addition it can move many wild dinos to taming pens and isnt too bad for grinding meat and hide quickly or defending your harvesters from threats. (It also has a smithy in its saddle whoop whoop) 2. Triceratops
(Berries, Thatch, Defense)
Easy early game tame, excellent at collecting thatch and berries, tanky enough to handle carnos and raptors, and its charge attack means one can move and harvest quickly, which I feel makes up for the fact it cant be carried by the argent like the rest of this list. Enough said.
3.Anklyosaurus (Metal/Flint/Obsidian/Crystal) Is easy to tame, even on foot as it is very slow, (can be found on herbivore island and tamed pretty early on) and has a weight reduction of 85% on metal. Perfect for gathering metal (duh) obsidian, crystal, and flint quickly and efficiently. Decently tanky like a trike but too slow to run if it needs to.
4. Castoroides (giant beaver) (Wood) This is a trickier tame, but its definitely worth it. While a mammoth is arguably better at gathering large amounts of wood, the beaver is a better dino all around, and is easier to tame early on. Has a 50% weight reduction on wood, stone, thatch and fiber.
The beavers additional pros are its mobile smithy saddle, ability to be carried by an argent, and that it is actually is decently tanky. To add to this, the beaver is fairly fast underwater and has a good oxygen bar, making it a good early diver to gather ocean recourses or aquatic tames, or as a way to escape larger land predators. 5.Doedicurus (Stone)
75% Weight reduction on stone and when using its roll ability, fairly fast. It can be a bit tricky to find, but it is the best stone gatherer on the island, and still small enough to be carried. 6. Moschops (Fiber, Berries, Rare Mushrooms, Rare mushrooms)
For an early, passive tame, this dino is amazing. It does not require a saddle, and will collect thatch, wood, and berries over time if set on wander. Its the best fiber harvester in the game, can harvest meat, hide, and berries, and can also collect rare mushrooms from swamp fairly easily. It is also an excellent way to collect large eggs for superior kibble. (Do note its a useless combat animal unless ridden, as even a mossy set on aggressive will flee from an enemy) Note:Ease of tame, and mobility were key factors in picking my tames. I set my base up on an island, surrounded by sharks, so easy transport to the mainland and back is essential.
