IT’S AWESOME TO BE RARE! (x) Glitterpants (Club Penguin) and Mrs. Snoodle (Moshi Monsters) This is old art from back in 2014 I decided to colour. Glitterpants was released to promote this Candy Crush like game Club Penguin developed. (fans were a bit miffed this puffle wasn’t a girl). At the same time Mind Candy did not put Mrs. Snoodle -their freshly introduced rare pony hot shot- in THEIR Candy Crush rip-off Moshling Rescue. Anyway fast forward to now, they are both in the abyss. None of them have been included in their respectable App reboots. Yet. Lol. Why say forgotten when you can say your appearance is tres exclusive!

I changed up Ellie a bit so she is more cartoony as sustainable enough for me to remain on model. She is also a shade darker of skin, as per colour guidance by @leahcinnamon causing her scheme to slightly differ from my first model drawing of her. (x)

Moshi Monsters: Staff Area

I have been pondering over starting a Moshi Monsters related webcomic(s), motivated by a mix of trying to safe the franchise (haha), showing my love for the franchise and exploring its potential. Several even, all focusing on different part of the cast, but uh..one thing at a time, please. The one I want to launch and am working on is one surrounding the characters from one of Moshi Monsters’ Apps: Moshling Rescue. A puzzle game. Going into plot, design choices and characters below the cut.

Basic Plot App & Alteration Some jerk (Big Bad Bill) decides to blow up a volcano for no other reason than mischief. This volcano contained gummy (that is not weird for Moshi) and covered “some area”. “You” are coached by a person (Ellie) who tries to save several critters (Moshlings) similar to said jerk, who are trapped in said gummy. Said jerk tries to stop you because aesthetic and an evil corporation (CLONC) is involved because they use the critters to genetically alter them (Glumping) and become part of their army. So I already explained it more logically than how Mind Candy described it. Mind Candy simply said “the Moshi volcano” and that it blew up and covered “Monstro City”. But the promotional visuals denies all of this so we are basically at the border of my fixing it and making it all more logical. The volcano is Mt. Krakkablowa, the area is the Gombala Gombala Jungle which cover about half of Music Island, which is settled East of the island where Monstro City lies. We won’t bother with Monstro City. We won’t bother with an additional “you” person, the protagonist and savior is Ellie. Ellie is the Forest Ranger of the Gombala Gombala Jungle and the gummy is not good for the health of the environment, aside the critters who are texting they are stuck.

Setting & Race On that note, there is a lot of stuff I try to fix regarding this setting. The Woolly Blue Hoodoos, Big Bad Bill’s tribe, have been done well or not-so-well depending on what fiction you check out. If you play the Moshi Monsters game, it’s good. If you watch the movie or read some stories (or even some part of the music video), it’s racist. I want to give them the attention they deserve after that mess with the movie. (The mission to promote the movie was so good, I don’t even know what happened there) The different Hoodoo tribes have shown to have aspects of cultures/tribes all over the world (The Americas, Africa, Australia, Asia). Mt. Krakkablowa is a pun on an Indonesian mountain (Southeast Asia). The other half of Music Island is Jollywood, pun on Bollywood (India; South Asia). So I felt super irked Ellie was so very pale skinned in a place that is everything but white, especially since they considered to make her dark skinned. I got really fed up. I decided to make her Southeast Asian, specifically Filipina, as the game was launched there first. (We can keep her hair headcanon) Here you can see her new colour compared to her original.

The Comic Plot Inspired by the “No Entry” sign in some deleted mini-game during Season 2 Mission 3, where you travel between the tribe habitats in the Jungle. Ellie’s radar picks up a Gummied Moshling distress call from a site they may not enter as it belongs to the Woolly Hoodoos and is separated from the rest of the jungle by a large brick wall and a door stating it’s Staff Area. So in order to reach the Moshling Ellie and Fez have to request access to those who caused this mess to begin with.

Characters What defines an OC? I filled in characters by tossing and turning existing aspects of them and adding what was needed. None of the main cast has a personal biography. I wrote at least 80% of what most of them consist of. Ellie, who I declared my OC a while ago, is an exclusive character to the App and is thus even more obscure. But she has a name and an appearance (which I altered a lil’) so there’s that. That said, I altered several characters appearances. Slightly, some of them don’t have a consistent design to begin with, like Chief Bill.

The Main Cast I have described on this sandbox page, so that’s worth a read. Uh, might note that all my characters are polyromantic by default. Bammerwee is a car I designed for those Green Hoodoos and their surfer aesthetic. She sort of counts as a character....not sure if she falls under main character but here she is. She is only of my four fully-falling-under-“OC” OCs.

Comic itself Hosting it on Tumblr like Bugpond. Update uh...hopefully like at least once a week haahaa...?? I still have to make a Tumblr for it and I went a bit out of my way with certain things. I made an own font out of my handwriting so that is cute. Need to make a background and simplify the buttons probably. I, uh, let you know if when I launch it.
