ive been a fan since just after volume 1 ended and????? it had a pretty good following??? not even "cringe-worthy" watching for laughs we earnestly enjoyed it. the consensus was, as far as i knew, "great show could use less jaune" but otherwise it was funny, action packed, heartwarming with an awesome soundtrack.
And then it turned out that WOW, IMAGINE THAT, DIFFERENT VOLUMES WILL FEATURE THE MAIN SUPPORTING CAST IN VARYING POSITIONS OF PROMINENCE, IT’S ALMOST LIKE JAUNE’S CHARACTER ARC WAS FUCKING RELEVANT--
and here we are in v8 and some folk still have not gotten that memo somehow.
but yeah, tl;dr the only way you watch RWBY v1-3 under the impression that it’s trash is if you decided it was trash before starting and deliberately ignored everything to the contrary until someone fucking died and jolted you out of it, because god forbid a show ever be earnest about anything.
