Mentor: Wildpath Nonbinary (they/them) • Lesbian

      Mothpaw has a very unique and peculiar problem, which led their mentor, Wildpath, to choose them as an apprentice. They hear the voices of the recently deceased in their mind, and they have yet to figure out exactly why.       Nonetheless, Mothpaw had a lot of time to themselves as a kit - their parents were mostly concerned with their other kits and had better things to do. They definitely wandered out of the camp a lot as a kit, but their parents weren’t very concerned about it and left it up to other warriors to discipline them. They collect things that they find fascinating, particularly 6-leaved clovers and unique little mushrooms. They’ve also been known to bring Wildpath bugs.

🏴‍☠️ Were there any points in which your characters tried (or succeeded) to commit mutiny against your planned plot? Where did they most want to rebel? 

I was curious about Flesh and Bone specifically, since iirc you've mentioned feeling like Stormfur "possessed" you at times during the writing process lol

Oh, Stormfur is the chief offender lol.

In my original outline, Stormfur and Hawkfrost didn't become mates until the end of the story. There weren't a lot of lovey-dovey scenes between them! But as I was writing That chapter, and they were arguing, I really couldn't keep them apart anymore - Stormfur wouldn't allow it, haha.

That's the most plot-altering example from Stormfur! And I have to say every time Stormfur possessed me, it was for the best. I really miss writing for him.

Crowfeather! For numbers 1 and 21/22

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

I know that Crowfeather is a pretty controversial character and not always liked by everyone on here, but he’s absolutely one of my favorites and has been since he was introduced in The New Prophecy. Being in the series so long I think there are a bunch of different Crowfeathers and I like them all for different reasons.

I loved his role as a cantankerous little brat on the journey. Seeing him open up a little bit only to be crushed by Feathertail’s death was one of the more enjoyable parts of the journey for me and I thought he was touching when he took her name as part of his to remember it by. Wish we got more of that story and some more time between Crowpaw/feather and Stormfur.

I love Crowfeather/Leafpool. I’m a sucker for a relationship that was doomed to fail. I’m one of the few people looking forward to the sappy reunion in StarClan after he dies.

I loved watching him become absolutely miserable in Power of Three and Omen of the Stars. The drama over him having kids in ThunderClan and all the failing relationships around him was very enjoyable I thought. I love every instance of “Ughhhhh Crowfeather.” in those books.

Even though I wish Breezepelt got a book, I love Crowfeather’s Trial and watching him try to make up some for his behavior. The change from completely miserable to working on stuff with Breezepelt means a whole lot to me as someone who went through some similar stuff with my dad. I adore the scene in TBC where Breezepelt is worried about him going into the Dark Forest.

All in all I’m happy where he is at as a character where he can still be grumpy and rough, but seems to care about people now too. I just wish we got on screen grandpa Crowfeather and grandma Nightcloud.

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

First thing is fixing the Crowfeather and Leafpool relationship to make it more gradual and less out of no where. Second is making his behavior after the relationship ends more consistent. With him and Breezepaw I like to focus on the idea that Crowfeather is overly harsh any time he sees Breezepaw making mistakes that he felt led him to being miserable (ie when he is getting along with Hollypaw on the way to the tribe). I like picturing him feeling like he is being punished when really he is punishing himself.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?

I like most things I’ve read. I like seeing all the different takes on a character that I personally really enjoy – whether it be making him better or worse I don’t mind. I just like seeing him. I guess personal favorites are stories where one or more of his kids with Leafpool interact with him or move to WindClan.
