Learning the do's and don'ts of sewing leather by hand, and I'm learning them the hard way. Anyway, of what I have learned so far, the most important thing if you want to try sewing leather is

Don't.

Yeah, it's slow. It's hard. It's tedious. Unsatisfying. You'll stab yourself doing it. But most importantly, at the end of all your hard work, once you finally get to have a good look at what you've made, it looks bad.

I am a fucking genius btw. The zipper of my boot has worn down in a way where it wouldn't stay up on its own, so I sewed little loops onto my pant legs so I could clip my zippers on them to keep them up.

Hey btw, this is how I attach loops on fabric strips for belts, decorative straps, etc. Take a soda can tab, attach it to the loop with jewellery chain links, and then sew them both onto the inside of the fabric before sewing the seam shut.

While I pretty much just wear black currently, something I've wanted to go for is something I'll just call "batshit monochrome": anything goes, though the louder, brighter, sparklier and weirder the better, but all in greyscale. Just black, white, shades of grey, and silver.

Also hit my thrift shopping lottery win today: A massive black genuine leather purse, in almost good condition. Took it apart as soon as I got home, and though I had to cut off a few parts that'd been worn through, there was still so much good leather left that - if I wanted to - I could almost sew a shirt out of it all.

I am neither slutty nor confident enough to wear a black leather crop top, but this amount of material will last me for ages, getting turned into belts, straps, and accessories.

Recently came across a pair of fairly bland earrings with those lock pendants on them - today I put them on the glasses chain on my sunglasses.
