My main reading goal for 2024 is to focus on reading books I already own and The Handmaid’s Tale was a recent part of that. I originally read this back in college and, while I loved it, it’s still tough to fully enjoy something when you read it for class. I’m so glad I returned to it now and got to fully enjoy it. The writing is so powerful and I seriously cannot recommend it enough (but please check trigger warnings first, of course). Plus, what better timing to reread it than when I’m finally watching the show!

Mothman sighting of Point pleasant, West Virginia
On November 15, 1966, a couple were driving home from a night out when they saw a humanoid figure with glowing red eyes laying in wait. In the center of the road a massive bird-like humanoid with wings and blood red eyes stood in front of them. It was 7 feet tall with a head like a bird, it just went straight into it's shoulders, and its wings were folded against its back.
"You could see muscles in its legs"
The couple stared dumbstruck for a moment before coming to their senses and speeding off. However, the creature followed. As they drove back towards Point Pleasant it veered off into the fields and disappeared. The horrified couple went to the County Police Department to share the terrifying account, which soon made its way into local papers.
"I wish we had never seen it. I wish someone else had seen it."
Hey, long time no see!
Between life being busy for the last couple months and hitting a couple of reading slumps, I haven’t been very present here. I’m back though, and just in time for one of my busiest reading months of the year! I just recently finished Starseer here by Katya Hernández and I absolutely loved it! Now, onto the 7+ books I have lined up for this month!
What have you all been reading? Any new recs you’d like to share?
