He’d stepped on something. 

Some. . . one, maybe? 

He couldn’t see anyone, even the slightest or smallest trace of anyone, but his superior dog instincts were were telling him there was at least here that was alive. . . ish.

So he lifted his foot, albeit very cautiously.

Doggo had been staring long and hard now, for possibly as long as a few whole minutes at this point; not speaking, just staring, only moving his head every so often to get a second, third and then, fourth look at the monster in front of him.

He might’ve been old, in fact, he was probably getting to really old, but all of his senses couldn’t be going at once. . . could they? There was no way this kid was actually. . . there. . .
