In light of the newest update, here are my designs of the characters seen in the @myth-of-the-machine prologue. Created by @nortsauce @flygutzz

I've loved redesigning them!! It has been the most fun I've had with art in a while despite it taking a while. They all have quite a bit of change but I overall think I captured their vibes. Huge shout to @crowberryboo for having the greatest designs ever. I took hella inspiration from him!!

I am working on the others, but I have a lot of other things to do/draw... so don't expect em anytime soon...

HUGE YAPP SESS abt details and headcanons below (it's allat)

I assigned each of the main cast a card symbol. Only after I did, I remembered the Cup-Bros were given the opposite symbols by the fandom, but let me cook. I didn't think about the numbers and just put them in upsending order then made symbolism around it.

Bendy is the Jester! In tarot (upright) it symbolises a leap of faith and new beginnings which represents the entirety of the comic. Bendy is leaving his old life following this map, and the fact this story is a rewrite. The card and him represent the ups and downs in life. His old profession was entertainment and he's honestly seen as a joke by everyone around him, and sometimes himself. He's scrawny, charming, carries himself with confidence of a much taller man, and is a wild card if you only look at him with a surface level of understanding. I had trouble intergrating any jester like qualities into his design, Bendy looks more like a scholar if anything and it honestly fits

He reminds me of Philip from Hamilton.

Boris has 1 Spade on his nose, meaning he's an ace! In tarot (upright) it symbolises a breakthrough, which the map is for him. Traditionally, the ace of spades is the most valued card in the deck. Boris doesn't consider himself as valuable, but the rest of the mains would. He is reason and a reason to keep going. The spade was worn in battle as a sign of good luck but the ace is also known as the Death Card. He and the card are loved but they bring conflict to those around them. Like the death of Cuphead :D

Cuphead has 2 Clubs on his shoes! Clubs are clovers and double them up is double the luck (bars). Him being the two of clubs speaks for itself, it symbolises partnership, guidance and is surprisingly analytical. Cuphead has a loving brother, he's escorting the B-Bros to the machine, and just like the card he is surprisingly thinking a step ahead. In tarot (upright) it also means to step out of your comfort zone which is funny because he's having an out of body experience at the moment.

Mugman has 3 Heart buttons! The three of hearts generally has the same meaning all around, ie. companionship. Mugman is codependent on his brother but he's clearly growing to care for others like, Boris, and the card actively celebrates it. I'd like to note we have 3 hearts for 3 cups.

Like acne, the cups gain cracks in their porcelain when stressed. Cuphead didn't fix his handle after a huge breakout while Mug's continues to keep himself intact. Cuphead's coat fur is beer foam, and Mugman's bow is a reference to Swap! Sans and to show more of his femininity (trans he/she lesbian, trust).

Shelly has 4 Diamonds, three on her dress and Pebble is made up by the very shape; there is one on her goggles just in case she doesn't have Pebble on her. The four of diamonds generally symbolises financial security... Shelly is technically financially secure, she can eat and sleep without a worry, but assuming she can't leave Gardenview, she can't not be secure in her "wealth". She has no life to live where she could spend with reckless abandon. (I had a crack theory that Gardenview was ran like a cult, before the update)

I LOVE SHELLY BUT SHE WAS A PAIN TO DRAW. IVE RELINED HER A DOZEN TIMES!! (Boris is a close second)

When I saw Felix's cartoon design, I got the idea to not give him a shirt for a nice contrast. The tie has his signature pattern, and the burn scar on Felix was caused by Mickey so it looks like him too.

Sheba's outfit reverse mirrors Felix's, and one of my favourite details is her fish zipper.

Oswald has a flower on his hat to commemorate his wife.

The flower sprouting from Ortensia's hat is her antenna and it expresses her emotions; the Ozlings are the same shade as said flower because they are part flower on their mom's side.

All the Ink Paint employees have the same ruffle pattern.

I present to you, Benny the Bag, the campiest thing ever. I wanted to draw him in full but and I wasn't about to figure out the dimensions of a car that can fit in Mickey's office.

I know Roger Rabbit looks completely different but I am very happy with the result and his goatee.

I tried really hard on making all the anthros look distinct from one another while keeping families looking related :

The B-Bros have the same curved points and long nose bridge

Felix is made out of triangles in sets of two

Sheba is made out of singular softer triangles

The WishUpon brothers have very circular faces and big ears. People probably think they’re cousins

Ortensia has curly hair

The Ozlings have the mix of their parent's genes.

Roger Rabbit is fluffy, has hair seperate from his fur, and has long droopy ears (I needed to fill up space)

‼️ There are important details missing from some of the characters and that's because I only learnt about them after finishing their designs. So, pretend Bendy's goggles are in his bag and Felix is shrugging about his bag "magically" disappearing or sm... idk man😭😭

So...This update was kinda jarring...

Basically, we got Dandy's introduction but at what cost. We also got the introduction of gardenview and Shelly but again...at what cost?

Anyway, onto the meat of this-

Dandy hates Bendy, He's seeing Astro, Bendy had no clue and is now going into an attack within the next few updates-

Ok, then why the hell did Dandy let them in?

Because looking at how he reacts to the sound of Bendy's voice, he isn't to pleased to see him. Even when he's congratulating his team for extracting everyone he doesn't pay anyone other than them any mind. It's like the main cast doesn't exist, it's like they aren't a concern of his. Which...makes no sense when you think about what Bendy said to him.

"You wouldn't leave your old dance partner behind"

So, Why did he let him in? If there was this great animosity between the two of them.

So, there are a handful of ways this could go. Easiest one would be that he wanted to let Dyle in so the team can calm him down and let him get help. Most complicated one would be that it's related to their 'break up' which is very...secretive right now. I think it's more of the latter, or it's a bit more complicated then what I know of the two characters right now. Because I am not going through hundreds of asks on Nort and Fly's accounts and just going off based on memory of the comic and the asks I have seen.

One thing that we know about Bendy, He is flakey, he has had the blot for the majority of his life, and he is prone to being a Diva (if I'm recalling correctly), along with that, he's had to make the fence hop of shame several times. I think all three of these are related to how Dandy and Bendy split up and why it was so bad that happy go-lucky Dandy still hates his guts over a decade later. Along with why Astro would be angry with him, and he seems like a pretty chill guy.

Along with that, Dyle (being Dandy's advisor remind you) had no clue who Bendy was. It's also important that Mickey knew Dandy and him worked together.

So, something big is tied to what Dandy and Bendy had done together. Because, Look at Mickey's reaction to when he sees the Flyer of 'The Darling Dancers'

That's...not a good reaction to say the least.

It's fear, it's terror. It's a 'oh shit I can't believe I forgot that guy' look almost.

I think Bendy had a tie in with the experiments that Mickey was apart of.

How big, I don't know. However, I think if him and Dandy were partners JUST BEFORE Dandy became a star it would make sense. I don't think he knew a whole lot. If he did we probably would've gotten more clues other wise, but I think that it's clear that he was in some way apart of something regarding them.

We also don't know how...far their relationship was. Weather they were just dating, weather they were married, FwB. So I do think it's fair to assume that he would have a tie in with that because of how close he was to Dandy. Either way, I think he had something to do with the experiments, yadda yadda yadda, probably not correct.

Anyway, Bendy has something to do with Dandy in the capacity that scares the fuck outta Mickey. I think it's related to why Dandy and Bendy broke up, but were going to put a weak pin in this while I get into the next point.

Bendy is a Diva, he also has had the Blot since childhood.

Which I see no one talk about.

Don't believe me uhh...

He's dripping ink in this panel...Granted it could be blood but I'm going with the idea that it's a very early stage of The Blot. Anyway, Moving on.

Which means that if we assume that the Blot is something you are born with, or something you get very young but probably doesn't fully resurface until later, Bendy might've lived his entire life with the Blot, he's might've known since he was wee high that he was going to die young. Which is fucked...but if you look at a fair amount of disabilities, childhood syndromes, and more...your not given a long life. Your given a shitty hand that you now have to deal with, and when that hand runs out. Then you don't get a redraw.

It would make sense as to why Bendy was so fine with his prognosis, he already knew that he was going to die young. The Ink machine practically was a pipe dream that he wasn't even sure it existed. Meaning when he probably was acting with Dandy, dancing around the area. He assumed the same.

He was going to die...there was no changing that. But how he could live his life, he could change.

So, he went on to make friends with Dandy, and dance and sing. To Act. And he did all of the things actors are to have done if anything that Nort has said to go by. But aside from that during this time, it was Bendy and Dandy, Dandy and Bendy.

Until it wasn't...

While the Stars weren't set up until around 1929, HOWEVER, with Ortensia's experiments going on around 1920 I think Dandy managed to climb the ranks a bit higher prior to becoming the Head of the department for health. Enough to where his theories or skills got to Mickey. Who very conveniently had someone close to him as well that had The Blot. So, During this time I could See Dandy living two lives pretty much. Darling Dancer by day, Scientist by night working with those afflicted by the blot. Probably getting started because their lover at the time also had it.

You can probably see where I'm going.

Now, going back to what Dandy has said in his meeting with Bendy. It's clear that something occurred that A) Made Bendy shocked to even see that Dandy was still...performing. I don't think he tried to kill him, I think he tried to ruin his career but we'll get to that in a bit. and B) Made Dandy think he was trying to steal the spotlight. Even though he just said his fucking name.

I think Bendy, starting to feel neglected by Dandy in his mind. Started to try and take up more time for himself. Take up more time to where he got the attention he craved from Dandy from other people. On stage in bed, what have you. This in turn pushes Dandy away, so as such Bendy does it more. Then so on so forth. Until finally something happens that Bendy decides to try and push Dandy closer to him.

By taking away the scientist part of the equation.

So, Anonymously, he releases what he does know about the experiments to the public. Not a whole lot to not cause a mass Panic, but enough that it was clear something wasn't right with the Government. Namely Dandy. Namely in the regards to Ortensia.

This would explain why the LuckyCat kids have such a hatred of Dandy. They know he is behind their mothers death, they know he is to blame. Looking at the panel of Junior seeing the Dept. Of health's train:

"You're the reason mom is gone"

That's more than thinking that Dandy promised the Ortensia would be fine, that he could help her...but then not fulfilling that promise. Other wise I think Mickey, or even Oswald would have stepped in and explained that it just happened. No, This is knowing that the person who was behind your mother's death is still in power. And hasn't seen an ounce of Consequence in your mind, that is deserved. Because if Mickey reprimanded Dandy by sending in an investigation, he would've been hit too because he was also apart of that experiment.

Bendy could have been a leak that told the story, trying to keep Dandy close to him. But instead he fucked up so bad that Dandy can't show his face in public much at all to save being jumped.

And Bendy, again, would have done this anonymously. But how far would that have taken him with those who knew?

All it takes is simplifying the people down to those who knew, then marking out by how they said it, by how they reported, and what they had to gain via the leak.

This could have been something that was a small slow build up. Bendy maybe listening as Dandy's rage got louder because as time goes on it's clear someone close to them was the one to do so, and as such he feels more and more betrayed. Maybe he ended up running away. Not wanting to deal with the full consequence of what he had done. Which inevitably tips Dandy off to what he had done.

Nothing would come of that leak, but it connects the dots to several things we know about the characters.

Why Dandy was so enraged almost to see Bendy, Why Mickey was terrified to know that Bendy was connected to Dandy, Why Astro might've been so enraged to see Bendy too. he practically came close to ruining Dandy's life. Which is why he is so shocked to see that Dandy was still around, cheerfully 'performing'. He's still the same old Dandy.

So why, even though he was so enraged by the sight and sound of Bendy...did he let him in.

Simple Answer, again, is that there was other people on that train. And while he has something against Bendy he isn't going to let innocents die. But I do think it's more than just that. Because it certainly is apart of it. I still think that Some part of Dandy, no matter how miniscule or tiny, loves Bendy. He still wants to see him, he can't wish ill-will against him because for 10 years he probably laid in bed next to them most nights, for 10 years they came home probably exhausted and depressed because of the experiments not working to the man who might be the reason they had started them in the first place.

He loved him for 10 years, and it's hard to turn that off completely.

I don't think he years for Bendy, I think he is perfectly happy with Astro and the Garden view crew. I however think that some part of him feels hope that they could push what Bendy might've done past them and be just friends. But reality is that Bendy, since being on this quest has done so much more heinous actions. The Reality is that they more than likely can't.

That raw rage, that anger that Bendy went behind his back...its still alive and festering. Because Bendy hasn't faced any consequences for what he had done.

Maybe he even saw Bendy sacrifice Dyle.

Maybe Bendy did try to take his life,

Maybe it was just one bad fight that broke the seams.

Maybe I'm looking way to far into this, and I'm completely wrong. IDK, I'm tired man. I wrote half of this at 4am and I still think it makes sense! *Faceplants into a table*.

I really enjoyed this, Obviously this is looking over the fact that Bendy has yet to mention anything regarding the experiments, I shall point this out and say that he has yet to be faced with a situation where he would.

Anyway, I'm going to go and grab something to eat and drink. Hope you all enjoyed this and had some fun.

The hat she wears was given to her by Mickey around 7 when she self-proclaimed herself to be Mickey's successor

Mickey lets Oro join some meetings as Oswald's "stand in."

Her type of good memory is called Hyperthymesia

This make things funny during meetings because she will point any discrepancies in her "serious" tone

She may be obvious towards mean comments from folks but she isn't ignorant. She will get back at them later.

Do you hate all the toons with magic/all the collectors?

Onóra gets shocked by your question but she makes sure no one else is listening

Oh, well, not all toons with magic are collectors! Infact, many toons in town have magic including some of my siblings. Haha, and they are wonderful people who don't harm anyone and help a ton out!

Onóra's face seems more gloomy and angry

....however..., Collectors are magical toons that choose to be cruel, destroy families and homes..... following a fool leader. They most likely had a choice to join or not, and even if they choose to join out of "fear".....don't they ever think about the fear they cause to other innocent toons?... Some even beg me to let them go so they can go back to their families, like if they ever listen to the ones they killed.

They might actually get rid of some toons that have done wrong, but I've seen them kill innocent toons as well. My job of trapping collectors is not always fun, but I like to remember that I save more toons with each collector I trap. And unlike them....I still prefer for them to not die....despite what they did....

I only give them a lesson to feel a small fraction of what they do to others...

NEW MOTM OC's!

Besides being in a large household of ozlings and overlooked she's a popular girl at her school, she can be snappy and rude, but she always keeps up her appearance, its the only thing she cares about besides May, since nobody acknowledges May in the household Opal is left to care for her while multitasking with friends and homework.

Opal doesnt like her father much but sometimes theres points where she talks to him after a tough situation, and quietly bonds with him.

May is the daughter of Mickey and Minnie! Despite them being divorced she rarely sees her mother and father leaving her to always be at her uncles house with the 420 ozlings, shes always taken care of Opal, in fact tries to learn to be quiet so Opal has time to herself too seeing that shes overlooked.

Despite her young age May is able to engineer since shes observant to people working, therefore she made Cog, a similar counterpart to Toodles except not very smart.
