Motuba 💙

He is considered our “welcome” gorilla for students new to the lab. He is a nice introduction to focal scans since he is easy to ID and his relatively calm demeanor. While he may be very laid back and likes to spend a majority of his day relaxing and eating he is a very good leader. He ensures his family feels safe and even plays with the youngsters.

It is truly something to sit next to this 400 pound silverback and have him look at you with those big brown eyes.

My favorite Boy❤️.

I recently learned he was hand raised (his grandmother is also the famous gorilla Colo). which to me is very interesting and how that may affect how he behaves today.

But I also stumbled upon the most adorable baby Tubs photo! I just love him to pieces.
