Today is human trafficking day. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some statistics of the current state of human trafficking within Nepal. According to Nepal Monitor between 10,000 and 15,000 girls and women are trafficked to India annually. 7,500 children are trafficked domestically for commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor. The Nepalese Youth Opportunity Foundation estimated that, annually in Nepal, 20,000 to 25,000 girls become involuntary domestic workers.
