In-Game Lore

In Skyrim, there are four varieties of Mountain Flower: Blue, Purple, Red, and Yellow. Though there's also a red Mountain Flower variation in Online, it has vastly different properties from Skyrim's Red Mountain Flower, so I will address it thusly.

Blue Mountain Flowers are used for restoring and fortifying Health, fortifying Conjuration, and damaging Magicka regeneration.

Online Mountain Flowers are used for increasing Armor, Maiming, and restoring Health and Stamina.

Purple Mountain Flowers are used for restoring Stamina, resisting Frost, fortifying Sneak, and doing lingering Magicka damage.

Red Mountain Flowers are used for restoring, ravaging, and fortifying Magicka and damaging Health.

Yellow Mountain Flowers are used for resisting Poison, damaging Stamina regeneration, and fortifying Restoration and Health.

Pop Culture Witchcraft

@hiddenskyrim made a post where they identified the Blue Mountain Flower as flax, so we'll start with flax correspondences. Flax is used for beauty, healing, money, protection, and psychic powers.

Looking at the in-game attributes of the various Mountain Flowers, here are some ideas for correspondences:

Blue: ancestor work, angel work, deity work, demon work, fae work, healing, removing energy/magic, spirit work

Online: baneful magic, energy, healing, protection

Purple: energy boosting, glamours, hiding things, protection from cold/frost/ice-related spells

Red: baneful magic, energy (especially boosting for spells)

Yellow: healing, protection (especially from poisonous/toxic things), removing energy/magic
