#Mountauk here I come (at Montauk, New York)
Far away 🚀 @montaukyacht #hamptons #mountauk (at The Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina)
THAT MOMENT WHEN SHE ERASED YOU FIRST BUT YOU CANT LET THEM ERASE HER BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO FORGET HER.
You know those moments when you're like "what the actual f*+ck am I doing here?" That's how I felt last weekend at the #MontaukProject for all the BEST possible reasons. It was everything.
What the heck is the Montauk Project?
I didn't know either until I received a cryptic invitation last week on the eve of the NIKE FREE Flyknit+ launch. Fast forward 48 hours and I'm whisked off to Montauk, New York for the supernatural training immersion that is the inaugural Montauk Project. 14 peeps traveled from NYC via Sea Plane to the beaches of eastern New York, to WERK, play, and run free.
It's an immersive running experience kind of like the most bad ass luxury camp you can imagine.
Our counselors were seasoned pros:
- Simon Bairu (Nike sponsored athlete, 10,000M Canadian recordholder, & MAJOR inspiration)
- Nicol Traynor (winner of women's 3K Steeplechase)
- Pat Jeffers (Nike Running & founder of Mass Transit Racers)
- Knox Robinson (Montauk Project Director & super speedy top 100 NYC marathon finisher)
- Caitlin Vultaggio (Nike Running product specialist & gait analyst)
- Lono Brazil (Nike Running product specialist & all around bad ass)
Here's a bit of what went down. I'm fully, 100% aware of how lucky I am to have experienced this madness.
- Arrival at Ruschmeyers Hotel to a swagged out cabin
- Early AM delivery of Nike Kiger trail shoes followed by an awesome trail run along ocean.
- Lunch and massages at Montauk Project HQ (a stunning casa overlooking the beach vista)
- PM Delivery of Nike Flyknit+1 trainers
- Track work with Olympian Sanya Richards Ross cheering us on
- Dinner on the track-kind of like Farm to Table meets Farm to Track
- Running, running, more running
- Paddle boarding adventures/some of fall into the water while attempting pushups on the board
- More amazing organic and vegan food
- Martial arts training with NTC Master Trainer Ary Nunez. THIS was one of the highlights for me. Home girl has energy for days. This passion is unmatched in a fitness professional. She had us rolling around the grass. I love her.
- Sand dune sprints where I almost puked followed by a candlelit lobster boil on the beach.
- Capping off the weekend with a 14-mile run in the FREE Flyknits, the Montauk Project showed athletes how to run-elevated.
In sum, this was unlike anything I've ever experienced. It was a glimpse into what it's like to live and train like a pro. The crew put in work, learned a lot, laughed a ton, and we all left pretty damn tired and even more grateful.
THANK YOU, Nike fam for including me. I'm a lucky bish.
WE RUN FREE BECAUSE WE CAN'T BE CAUGHT.
