A little #mourninggecko ! The most FASCINATING little creature. They are parthenogenic which means they don't need a male to have eggs - they simply make clones of themselves! They are super tiny and won't get too much bigger than this, just a few inches. Super easy to care for, similar to crested geckos. We haven't thought of a name for this lil lady yet - any suggestions?? ... Thank you #blackwaterexotics ! #dwarfgecko #geckosofinstagram #reptile #repticon #repticonraleigh
This little beauty, a mourning #gecko will be added to my dart frog #vivarium soon! She (this species is entirely female - parthenogenesis) will be helping me by eating all the knats and extra fruit flies that the frogs don't eat! She was produced by Audra at Lick Your Eyeballs Geckos. She has so many amazing species to choose from. #areareptiles #mourninggecko #reptilesofinstagram #reptiles #lizards #lizardsofinstagram
4 baby mourning geckos hatched and the moms have laid 4 more eggs in the new enclosure. #mourninggecko
One baby escaped the enclosure (I caught it. Don't ask me how I did that without squishing it.) So I stuffed bits of cotton balls into all of the cracks and then taped over them and it seems to be escape proof now. I can't tell if they're eating though. I never see them go down to the bottom of the tank, so I'm going to attempt to make my own canopy feeder with magnets. The moms are in their new enclosure so no risk of cannibalism. There are still 3 more eggs due to hatch in this enclosure! #mourninggecko
