Got myself a book about the geography of Duckburg and Mouseton for Christmas
( !!!! u turn it upside down to read about one or the other !!!!! )
This is gotta be one of the funniest weirdest, and saddest first appearance in animation of all time. Imagine finally being animated for the first time ever and it’s on Paradise PD of ALL THINGS. Not on the recent shorts or even house of mouse with Phantom Blot and O’Hara. This.
We really need a new Mickey mouse show where it’s more or less an adaptation of the Mickey Mouse comics from the past and present that features characters like him and more that haven’t appeared in animated form, similar to Ducktales and its reboot.
It could also be its own separate thing or even connected to the Ducktales reboot as well given that show has the Phantom blot in as well the Easter egg mentioning Mickey’s home town, mouseton. I’m fine with one or the other either way.
Also have the comic characters and locations appear in a third epic Mickey game that explores more of mickeys world someday as well too.
Has anyone deep dived into the weird segregation issues in the disney hickey mouse universe?
Was watching a video on A Goofy Movie and they noted that everyone in that town are dog people (except Pete and his Family) but also said in the movie that Goofys best friend is Donald Duck who live in Duckburg which is a town full of ducks and other birds.
Mickey live in mouseton?
Idk i dont have the time to dive into it myself. Just an observation.
i've never coherently written it out but, i have an imagined premise for how Oswald could fit into a mouseton style world (by that I mean a structure similar to disney comics or mouseworks shorts). Oswald in his current disney characterization depends on real world meta, so to fit him into a cartoon canon setting while retaining his attributes of 'long lost, frustrated, brother of Mickey Mouse' i thought it should go like this:
Oswald is the elder half sibling of Felicity and Mickey. Present in their house is two mouse parents, who are equally uncaring and neglectful to him, with no indication as to which one he is related to. They have summer custody of Oswald, and he is basically a forced babysitter to kid Felicity and baby Mickey- but he loves them and they love him, and they have fun, but the folks are (disney comic/cartoon friendly) mentally abusive and always ignore or belittle anything Oswald does well (i wanna clarify, they're not yelling. I think it's worse if they just casually talk him out of being proud of himself like they're just discussing the weather).
now, 'the folks' are mostly styled after Mickey Sr & Mennie McTop from the Once Upon a Time in America comic, which sucks ass by the way (it's super boring and SUPER racist towards Native Americans and I do not recommend it, but i read it to read about Mickey's family in that comic), but i really only pulled their names, Mickey Sr's fuckass personality, and the fact that he was a circus pilot. And another thing about Mickey's canon family (like one off comic relatives) is that, besides his sister, they're fucking weird. And a lot of them are criminals or assholes in order to contrast with Mickey.
So the whole Mouse family (Michael Mouse Sr) are involved in crime, namely contraband and counterfeiting (and are rivals to another criminal family, the Petes). And the McTop family (Mennie McTop) owns/runs a circus (because the family members in the paul ruddish christmas special look like they work in a circus. or should. to me). And when they two of them wed the circus becomes involved in criminal aspects. And the kids are unaware of any of this.
So one day the family gets caught and arrested en masse (except for a few key members), and since Oswald has a living parent elsewhere, he's sent off. Felicity and Mickey are sent to live with Aunt Melinda on her farm. The whole thing sticks with Felicity, partially inspiring her career in journalism, but she never liked talking about Oswald because his sudden absence upset her so badly. Mickey was so little and so upset at the time that he doesn't even remember it.
Oswald's other parent is undeveloped because otherwise that would give too much insight into his relationship with the folks and i think it's better if it's super unclear. It's no Cinderella with a crueler step parent or Matilda with a crueler bio parent. It doesn't matter which side of the family he comes from because he's blatantly not included regardless.
the siblings don't reunite until adulthood, and it's a whole thing because Oz has a wife and kids, and little City has a wife (i have an OC) and kids, and little Michael Jr has had just such a great life (how irritating). It's sad to see how much of each other's lives they missed (and envied) but they're glad to be reunited.
also to note, some of Mickey's family from newspaper comics (Uncle Max, original neighbors Morty & Ferdie) were inserted to see if Duck newspaper comics could be replicated to success for Mickey. And like, no. But see, I think they should be the anti-duck family. Instead of rough around the edges but loyal and caring for their (extended) family through and through, they are outwardly eye catching and entertaining and charming and internally cold and uncaring, even about a lot of each other (the Mouse family is more like coworkers).
Happy birthday you sexy mutt 💜🖤

(This is according to the Italian lore, so don't come bitching at my door because of the different date aight?)
What if instead of Ducktales we get Mousetales?
In that AU we follow Mickey, whose sister Felicity mysteriously disappears leaving her sons behind. Now Mickey have to reopen his detective agency and find culprit who kiddnaped her using help of his friends and his girlfriend Minnie.
Okay,
Imagine an au, where there's a sort of Justice league of Ducks, and there a subdivisions and members all over the world, for example the Justice ducks in St. Canard , The red bat, Duck avenger, and GizmoDuck in Duckberg, etc. Don't forget singular members such as The Green bat in Brazil, and supergoof in mouseton. Oif. Why did I write all this?
