Thing is, the professor before has been pretty cool about it before, pointing out characters/scenes that might be racist/sexist/homophobic, but when I point out a scene might be transphobic (with the suggester using the T-word to boot) the professor goes “we shouldn’t care about political correctness, if we offend somebody we’re doing something right.” It was a disappointing response.

I gotta say I am really enjoying how these guys are growing as characters, even if it’s just little subtle ways. Like some of the more serious characters like Tien are more obvious, but even the sillier characters have come far while still having the same charm as the people we started with. It feels natural.

I dunno much about the show once Vegeta comes in, (I can really only distinctly remember about 4 or 5 of the Z episodes), so I really can’t speak for that, but I’m a little excited to finally sit through it and hope it has the same fun as the 1st installment.

MFA in screenwriting. I took screenwriting in college but my major was fiction writing - for some reason I had this idea that I needed a “flexible” writing degree but now I realize that screenwriting is my true passion more than anything.

thank you for your Valuable Work spreading the good word about the original YYH. the fandom is approximately where DBZ was 7-10 years ago and it makes me liable to pop a blood vessel with the "no but the script is funnier" gospel

I think it’s mostly from people who don’t seem to be able (or want) to critically engage their media and instead just want to watch whatever tickles them the most. Or it’s just nostalgia. Or both. Whatevs, I knew everyone on that post would tell OP dub so I had to at least throw my hat in the ring.
